    My just bought 1990 348 TS with 17,000 miles and only driven less than 200 miles since I bought it now has a problem with a slow down light. This is at idle when cold. I took it out of my garage today and it sat outside several hours. Temps today in the mid 80's. Started it up and the slow down light for 5-8 is on. This is with a cold engine. Stayed on for the few minutes it took to put it back in the garage. The 348 curse starts.

    Should I chance taking it for a drive to see if it goes out? Maybe just for a few miles. How about the thermocouple to the converter. Can a jumper it or disconnect it or put a resistor across it to check to see? Switch parts left to right? Buy some new parts?

    This has been discussed about a million times before. Do a search.

    You probably need a new control unit for the slow down light. Swap it from one side to the other to test, or just buy two new updated units and be done with it.

    Bad cat ecu, or bad thermocouple.

    Run a search of the archives, you'll find out what to do.

    A bad catalytic converter ECU is probably the problem (exact same thing happened on mine). If so I have a used one in excellent condition for the Bosch M 2.7 units that I can sell to you for alot less than a new one. If this is the case and you are interested PM me and we can talk.
