Anybody want to loan me their ferrari for my wedding reception?

Has anyone used them? Do they have all the cars at the airport?
I would not mind the Cobra or 355 Spider for 5 hours as a Father's Day present....

 

I just think you're going to have a difficult time finding someone to loan a $100K+ car to a perfect stranger. Regardless of if they are loaned your car and/or are able to follow you around, etc.

Why not have your best man or one of the groomsman work out the details on picking up/returning the car. Obviously it's your wedding day so that shouldn't be something you directly have to worry about, but it could be taken care of fairly easily.

Again, just a suggestion to try to help you realize your wedding day dream.

 

I really think you're better off working through a real car rental place. This subject has come up many times before and there has generally been little interest in such "offers". Several factors in play here:

* $500 isn't that much. It may sound like a lot for 1.5 miles, but the way you have it set up, the lender has to give up a morning or afternoon to watch over the car and "chill" at your reception with strangers he doesn't know or care about.

* The once or twice I've seen someone pick up on the many requests (50:1?), it's been because the requester had a lengthy history and knew a lot of people here. In other words, it's not the money, it's the relationships.

* Renting the car could be a violation of their insurance. The situation could be construed as business and might not be covered should something happen.

It's just not something that enticing to most owners.

 

Fully concur. In the event that I had let myriad people use my cars at their whim, it was based solely on the relationship. I suspect if you had been a member o fthis community for some time, you'd have had something arranged for gratis. Coming in unknown, your chances of success are ~0

Geez, you guys aren't being very friendly! I'd be happy to lend the guy my car for $500 (I've included a picture below). But to be completely honest, that's an old picture. It's gotten a few door dings since then, and there's a funny squeaking noise coming from the rear end that I'm trying to track down.

I only live about 20 miles from you but above states it all....don't even let my kids drive it. more of an insurance thing and equally a 'chill' out thing. your best bet is to rent.....

it's not the money, too.

 

Two questions:
1. Do you have experience driving a stick shift?
2. Are there going to be some hot, single women at the reception?

 

Your example only reinforces my point that a relationship is more likely to produce a car.

I suggest coming out to Santana Row on a Saturday morning and meeting some of the owners. It would go a long ways in building a level of trust and friendship. Personally, I would have no qualms loaning out the Ferrari to a trusted friend; however, not to a complete stranger.

 

Will my 355 kit car counted? It looks authentic though I'll take $150 plus food on reception

I mean, how bad could it be? Let's see... take a nice drive on a sunny summer day in the Ferrari (have Fridays off anyway), meet a fellow car enthusiast and his smoking hot wife (who has hot single friends), take him around the block a couple of times, let him drive around the block a couple of times to get acclimated to the car, let him jump in with his smoking hot wife (who has hot single friends), they drive the car two blocks to his house, I go to a reception and get introduced as "the guy who let me borrow his Ferrari" to a bunch of hot single girls, eat free, drink free, get a bunch of phone numbers (okay maybe I'm stretching it a bit now), collect five hundred thank you buckies, then take a nice drive back home on a sunny summer day in the Ferrari. Yeah, sounds like a horrible deal - so don't anyone else volunteer, okay?

 

Well you can volunteer lending your fcar. I can volunteer with the reception and mingle in with some hot Brazilian gals. Unless there's enough to go around.
