Consensus on 365/512BB/i hp & tq

OK, so someone's on wikipedia fiddling with numbers for the Boxers. Here's what I thought the numbers should be:

365: 360hp@7500, 311ft-lbs@4500
512BB: 340hp@6800, 331ft-lbs@4300
512BBi: 340hp@6000, 333ft-lbs@4600

Most of this came from the F website before they changed it last year.

Can those in the know (and you know who you are) please weigh in so I can fix it, if necessary?

 

The 365BB hp was overstated and should be around 340hp, prototype was 380hp though. 512BB is 360hp not 340hp, BBi at 340hp is correct, torque figures look correct

 

Really? where did you get your info from. have never seen 360hp quoted for a production 512bb. Test mule 365bb was 380bhp, road car 360. Test mule 512bb was 360bhp, road car 340bhp. Have seen 320bhp quoted for 512bbi. Torque figures look correct

Per my Ferrari owners' manuals:

365 BB, HP = 344 SAE net
512 BB HP = 360 DIN

 

Also: If possible, chime in on those rpm figures. In particular, the 512BBi is making max HP at 6000 rpm vs. 6800 for 512BB vs. 7500 for 365. I'm a little leery of the BBi number although perhaps this is what happens with FI vs. carbs and the power band?

 

Dont trust any of the numbers, the only way to "know" is to dyno it while its out. Nows the time Buzz.

 

What does it really matter anyway? All versions are fast(for their era) and fun to drive and have their own pluses and minuses. I prefer the drive ability of the BB512i as I am usually driving at relatively show speeds where torque matters more than HP...I do like the sound of the 365GT4/BB best with its three tailpipes...the BB512 sounds great too. I will never race mine and will rarely track it for fun and will not push it hard then...so to me numbers are irrelevant...its the fun factor I love...

 

Its a pissing contest, whos is better than whos, at least it seemed that way in the past. I like them all too and mine just happened to be injected, I didnt care at the time (still dont) I just wanted a boxer.

 

exactly my thought process...i was open to all of them but just wanted the nicest, best deal i was able to find at the time. just happened to be a injection car.

I just reviewed all the F manuals. This is different than what I thought, but no matter: we can consider it canon if we choose:

365: 344hp@7200, 302ft-lbs@3900
512BB: 340hp@6200, 333ft-lbs@4600
512BBi: 340hp@6000, 333ft-lbs@4200

actually I think the 365 was only 290hp....gross.

 

Mine from Carobu. 364 at 6500 rpm. Pump gas too, I keep Cam2 in it though.
