575M F1 Exhaust Upgrade Any Suggestion?

My car is currently having Tubi but is too quiet from midrange onwards perhaps any good suggestion on a nice set of exhaust? Better if it comes with switches to turn on/off the loudness of exhaust......

Will the xpipe give me sensor warning light?

 

I never got one. The 02 sensors are ahead of the X-pipe on the cats. What you will get, however, is a deeper resonance in the exhaust note and a very throaty howl at higher rpms....maybe even a little more torque!

capristo builds an exhaust with dual stages, i think you can have a switch installed. I was looking at it a few months ago just never went through with it.

 

Isn't that only for the 550 and not the 575?

How about kreissieg F1 Vt exhaust?Anyone heard of it?

 

Capristo builds one with valves also, it is less expensive than the Kreis-sieg, but I sell them both, also with the 575 there are diffrences in the muffler system depending on the vin#.

Always purchase a aftermarket muffler from a aftermarket muffler specialist so you get qualified correctly for what you are looking for.

I sell more muffler brands that anyone else in the Country!

its kind of too quiet for me..... i like tunnel blasting....hahahah

Will changing my stock center pipe helps increase the sound? If yes what pipe is good to go with Tubi muffler?

 

I would reccomend replacing the x pipe and going to a valve system such as a Capristo or a Kreis-sieg, they make complete sytems, the OEM 575 exhaust system is designed to be an Grand touring system, so the sound is not the best in my opinion.

What ever system you go with, do not install an X-pipe. We have confirmed that the 550/575 do loose power when adding an X-pipe.

 

I just added an x-pipe to my 550, designed by Phil Hughes(Ferrarifixer), and the increase in power is noticable. I believe Stephens another regular poster has confirmed my findings. I'd like to know more about your test.

X-pipes might add low end tq but will hurt your top end HP. Stephens reported gaining 15 hp after removing his X-pipe.

 

I am having trouble with those findings that you loose HP with an X pipe. With the valved systems, the low-end torque is improved as the valves are closed & open up gradually as the RPM increases on the Capristo systems & the Kreis-sieg systems.

I will see if I can get some dynojet figures from Capristo, they have an in house Dynojet. All mufflers are first CAD developed along with special emulation software for air flow & then tested on their Dynojet before going to TUV to get approved.

Hopefully they will have something with an X pipe & without. I will also call Troy at Hyper-Flow & see if he has any X pipe dyno results.

The OEM 575 muffler system is a big PIG it is not designed for maximum flow, sound or HP. It is a grand touring exhaust system.

 

It seems that most people find an Xpipe so fancy, that nobody is interested in alternatives, even if this gives an extra 15 Hp.
Stevens published a dyno shootout, and over the whole rpm range, the xpipe was inferior to straight pipes.

 

Just to let you know that I bought a 550 from a registered dealer with a Ferrari warranty. Its has the X pipe and Tubis fitted and sounds astonishing, very throbby at lower revs and then screaming at higher.

The big issue is that despite the car being dealer approved the warranty is invalidated by the exhaust, somewhat irritating!! If you have a Power or cube warranty it may cause you problems.

Wow! Thanks everybody for all the advises. I think i will just remove the tubi muffler and replace with the Kreissieg F1 Vt Cat-back Exhaust.

Dont get me wrong, a X-pipe works wonders on a v8. They flatten the tq curve, increase low end tq, smoothen exhaust pulses, etc. The v12 is a smoother running engine then a v8 and just does not need it. You will still gain power with an X-pipe, even a very aggresive X-pipe flows better then the factory resonator. I also had my own X-pipe that I stopped selling after confirming that straight pipes work better. I have also found the factory exhaust diameter to be to small and restrictive, forcing the two banks to merge into 1 smaller pipe will not help. You will also have a hard time finding a single v12 race car with a valved exhaust or X-pipe for a reason. In the end is comes down to sound vs performance. For street use most go for sound.

 

Yes Optrex, the front section pictured on the system that you posted would be the called the X pipe.

The most restrictive part of the system is the pre cats / manifolds with respect to the performance on the 575 from what Capristo has told me during conversation this morning.

For someone using the car on the street I would recommend either the Kreis-sieg cat back or the Capristo Cat back for a great sounding street system as they use a valves that open up as the RPM’s increase, it will give you a great sound under WOT & be civilized during cruise. I also would recommend the Hyper Flow x pipe as it is of very high quality with a valved rear muffler set up.

I personally have no issues with using straight pipes either, but I know what these cat back systems sound like that I listed above, I have also heard how the Hyper Flow with Capristo's valved mufflers sound like as I have sold that combination also.

I believe that Optrex would be happy with any combination of what I have discussed above. Harmony, do you fabricate straight pipes for this application?

 

I replaced the mufflers with a pair made by X-OST (from Ricambi) and they are perfect!. The car sounds great at low revs, with an increasingly higher pitch as you go up the rev counter. The best part is the popping when you downshift. It makes the car sound manly, like it should have sounded from the factory. Highly recommended and way less expensive than all of the other that have been mentioned in this thread.

A V8 has uneven spread pulses per bank, where an Xpipe fills the "holes" in between, leading to better scavenging and to a nicer sound..
A Ferrari engine has two banks that are producing pressure waves every 120 degrees pro bank.
Merging the two banks may also produce a nicer sound, but disturbs the scavenging.

 

i have a 03 575m and i had a custom exhuast made for my car...well its STRAIGHT PIPES from the cats back...and boy o boy it sounds incredible...and still isnt to the point where its too loud its just PERFECT..with a nice kick of the awsome poping sounds when downshifting wow..

 

I have a back to back test, same car, same dyno, same day, there is no point in the RPM curve where the X pipe produced more power/torque.
X pipe does sound nicer though ;-)
