Since this just got resurrected in the 308 forum, here's an UPDATE: After more than a year and about 5000 miles on the new springs, there is NO RUBBING. The problem (see posts starting with #113 and especially look at the photos in #132) was definitely the original QA-1 springs, which showed up with rubbing starting after less than 1000 miles. It still irks me that they wouldn't own up to it...

I just read the old posts. I hope that guy didn't spend all that non-refunded money in one place. A little goodwill toward Ferrari owners on this website can reap big dividends. As it stands now he lost a lot of future business, including mine.

That was almost 2 years ago now. I wonder what the financial impact has been so far?

    Excellent thread this, thanks guys!

Soooo, bottom line for a street car that is not likely to see any track use:

A good plan of action would be:

    * Use Varishock's, initially set to 3 and then tuned to my taste
    * Use Eibach or Varishock springs, 10" length front, 12" length rear, 350# front, 300# rear.

    Correct?

This is all for the 308 GTB/GTS.

I've got a GT4.... The stock settings of these differ. Anyone dare to give a guess as to the sweet spot for the 308 GT4?

    Thanks!!

    Hans

That sounds good even if you ARE going to have occasional track use... you can always firm up the shock settings for track days just by turning the dial on each one a couple of clicks.

    Thanks Mike.

At the very beginning of this thread (on page 3 or so), you mentioned the type numbers of the shocks that you are using. Now that you are a few years down the line, do you reckon that these are the correct ones, or should you have taken others, in retrospect?

(and yes, I've read about your QA-1 springs)

    Thanks!

Yes, I'm fine with the shocks that I have; they're close enough to the stock shock travel, and have had enough adjustment once I got rid of those terrible QA-1 springs.

By the way, referring to "pages" is a bit useless on FChat... since people set the number of posts-per-page display to their liking. I have mine set to 100 per page, but I think the default is 20 or 30 (you set it under USER CONTROLS/OPTIONS).
