CAN SCOTT SCORE FIRST POINT IN NORTH AMERICA?

Based on Scott Speed and TR's showing in Monaco, would you call it progress or one hit wonder. Two chances on the horizon to score big on home turf. Will it happen???

 

I think Scott is starting to show some progress.............I am happy with what I see. Last year, I questioned if he should be in F1, this year he is proving that he belongs.

Hopefully the 1st point will come on North American soil.

 

Can he? Yes.

Will he? No.

I bet he's gone this year. Out with the bad and in with the even cheaper.

 

Monaco has always had the ability to make a so-so car look better then it is. I think once the speeds pick up again in Canada, TR will again be struggling. Points look doubtful.

 

Monaco's unique. The STR isn't fast enough to compete at Montreal or Indy.


I do think he'll beat the other STR if his car stays together.

 

Both races are fast track (mid-low & low-hi set-ups) so only if a big surprise happen. I doubt it he can score some points.

The real question Speed and his fans ought to ask is:

Can Scott score first point AFTER North America?

Given the rumors, he might no longer be sitting in a F1 after North America.

 

***Fingers crossed*** Hopefully he can take a few other "late night additions to the roster" drivers.

Really F1 can't be soooo costly that teams can't afford a few million for tallent.

If I spent $300,000,000 buying/ starting/ running a team, I wouldn't get bottom dwellers for drivers. I'd spend as much as it took to get a driver to get as much out of the car in every race, finish every race and develop the car in and after every race. I really don't know why some of these drivers are in F1 and how others stay for sooooo long.

Sheeesh!

 

There are several reasons why Scott sits in that cockpit:

- He is the leftover of the RedBull US talent search. I believe by now they gave up on that (meaning never had another search thereafter), but they had to give him the seat to not look stupid in public.
- The US is a gigantic (if not the best) market to sell RedBull cans. So don't mess with the US audience and give them their token driver.
- I wouldn't be surprised if Zampano Ecclestone made some kind of deal with Mateschitz to have a US driver on the grid. Maybe Mateschitz gets a couple % more from the TV rights pie (managed by Bernie) in return for an increase in the US viewership.

Given all the racing going on in this country I'm still somewhat stunned that our answer to F1 is Scott Speed. I'm sure we can do better than this. Much smaller countries produced more and better driver talents. But then again the same can be said about our national soccer team.

 

Scott is only one example and it happens every year. Poor drivers who are sometimes deemed "unsafe" let alone "not good" get rides while other who can drive vanish into the night.

In Scott Speedless's case, F that, dump the weight. Why lose money hand over dump truck to save face? Dump the child at McD's and move on like any parent would.

 

Well, they DID get me to buy a can of Red Bull while on the road this week, and I have to say the price of a can or two should help fund a solid team.

Seriously though, Berger seems genuinely high on the guys, I hope they don't let him (and us, the US fans) down. We need more than the first turn this year in Indy so we can actually all see him drive and race.

In every interview I read Berger complains about Scott's lack of commitment.

 

I think Scott has made an improvement since last year, and the beginning of this year. I dunno how the car will do at Indy and Canada but I think Scott will do better that Liuzzi.

 

At this point, I think Scott has impressed me more than Liuzzi as of this year.

 

He qualified 13th last year at the USGP, if he survives the first lap, I see him getting a point or two.

 

That's the only reason why I picked him. Personally I would fire them both ASAP. I think a photo of Jim Clark has more driving ability than those two losers combined.

 

He'll wreck, drive too slow, trip over someone, make someone trip over him, stall in pit lane and take forever to get it started again, stall on the grid, spin out on the formation lap, blink and miss a turn, leave his visor up and smush his eye balls or some damn thing.

Scott, there's a call center somewhere calling your name.

I take it you don't like Scotty very much or you think he is completely incompetent in a F1 car.

 

If he were to rent me a car at Enterprise, I would like him just fine.

He doesn't race well and doesn't impress. I watch F1 to be entertained not so pretend playboys can hope to one day have a top 5. F him and the rest of the never were's. F1 is at an all time low in the ratings category, get some talent in the drivers seats and maybe people will use their couch cushions more often on Sunday mornings.
