    Hi Guys...

I am writing 'cause I need all your emotive, technical, true support!

I am in love with my Ferrari... and that's ot of discussion! But there's something that is keeping me thinking.

    It hasn't the 2 lateral shields... :-(

    So... what should I do?!?!

did anyone of you got the shields installed after sale? What's your experience or suggestions about it?!!?

They said to have the original ones I should change lateral body of the car if getting directly from Ferrari! I heard even about people who do the work in authorized garages wihout changind the part...

Or Maybe the official resine stickers which are less beautiful, but convenient as far as vandals attacks are concerned!!!

    I am just too confused...

    any help?!

    Giorgio,

You just need to put aftermarket metal ones on, I got mine from Yoshi in the States. There are plenty of threads about these, just do a search on shields.

    The resin stickers are rubbish!!

No shields, unless the factory put them on.

How many prancing horses are on the car now?

Shields are for kids and posers!

Ferrari originally used the shields on their race cars, everytime I see a street Ferrari with them I think they look silly. Certain models do look better than others though.

"In case you didn't already know, this is a Ferrari, see the huge yellow prancing horse on my fender".

They look great . Buy a set of the resin ones 1st and try them out. If you like it then go buy the metal ones. Enjoy the ride

I had aftermarket shields removed from my 456MGT. I like it to be understated.

They look good on 360s though. They seem to be prevalent on the newer models. Give it a try.

I was told not to put any logo or any types of shields because we are not getting paid to advertise our car, it's an advantage for the manufacturer not for us.

All of the newer Ferraris have shields as standard equipment, so there is nothing wrong with adding shields to an early 360, if that's what you have.

    That is freakin' funny.

I say, if Ferrari offered it as an option it's OK to add it to your car even if that option wasn't chosen by the previous owner.

I thought shields were a $$ options, not a delete option??

Shields interfer with the styling lines, interrupt the color and generally look a bit too busy and add extra bling.

seems much more ocmplicate dthen I thought.... think the wiser thing, is waiting and afford the original ones. I will bring the car to the dealer and d change the lateral parts with the new ones.

As I write, I am looking at the MSRP on my '03 575M. Shields are listed as a $1451.00 option. The fenders are different, having molded depressions to accept the shields. If you add shields it will be immediately apparent. I see nothing wrong with it but, that's the reality.

I'm having the same dilemma. I just got a 430 Spider that was ordered new with the exact same options and colors I would have ordered with one exception - no shields. Premier in L.A. (a very well respected body shop in these parts) wants about $4k to emboss the fenders, respray and add the shields. Has anyone else had their fenders indented for the shields? How did it turn out and how much was it?

Whenever I take the shields off my 328 to wash or wax it, the car looks like it's missing something. The shields definitely add something to the appearance.

And since in 1986, the sale of Ferrari road cars was still supposed to be providing financing to the racing team, why not show solidarity by wearing the shields?

No sense to spend lots of money: my shields are magnetic and cost $13 each. They look great and I can remove them at any time.

No, that one can't be seen from the outside.
