Apparnetly not - the meat is being made into sausages. I think it's fake. It's so far beyond other hogs that I think its fake. And "coincidentally" the father is selling posters of the pig and kid and has all sorts of interviews lined up for his kid. And various websites and professionals are critiquing the validity of the pictures. I think it was staged - they probably did shoot a big hog, but not as big as claimed. It will all come out as a hoax eventually - or at least it will be debunked that it was the biggest ever.
I can't believe the news people fell for this. OMG look at the size of the hand in this picture!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd have to agree with you, Mike. Who shoots a world record hog and then immediately has it processed into sausage? No one. The father's web site is getting a ton of hits and he's making some fast cash while the press is covering the story. Even if it's proven a hoax, he'll have made his money and the world will move on and forget all of this. Of course, the hunting preserve has a stake in all of this too...I'll bet the price of a hog hunt there has gone up exponentially!
If you go to stinkyjournalism.org they have an expose on the whole thing. They employed some guy who works with photographs dealing with perspective. He showed that the kid is actually standing about 7 feet BEHIND the hog in the picture - making the pig look huge and the kid look tiny. They also discovered a picture that had been put on the monsterpig web server, but never published to the site. Almost like someone accidentally uploaded the pic. In that unpublished picture, the kid is right next to the pig and the pig is not NEARLY as big as it looks in the other pictures. Also, the picture with the pig hanging uses deception in it's perspective - the guys are standing about 8-10 feet behind the point where the pig is hanging - but since the picture is cropped and the camera angle makes their feet line up with the pigs nose, it looks like a mammoth pig, when it infact is not. On top of all that, it appears the news media who had scheduled interviews with this kid have decided to back out due to the likelihood of the whole thing being a hoax or at least overplayed.
I guess I got sucked in because here in PA, people routinely shoot a deer and process the whole animal into deer sausage and balogna. No steaks, roasts, etc.
True, but none of them claimed to shoot the world's largest deer. I don't question having the whole hog made into sausage (something that big has got to have some very tough meat!), but I called b.s. on the whole deal when the people had the hog processed before having its size officially verified.
IMO the whole thing is one of those stories designed to take your eye off the ball. The MSM(main stream media) seemed to cover it until they couldn't get away with it anymore. It's all designed to take the heat off the real issues of the day i.e. Iraq and how we're being totally bamboozled over that or chatting about it here when we should be doing more productive things etc.
Feel the same way about Paris Hilton. The "Pig" in this case was a hand raised "pet" not some wild boar. Yup they shot Babe, someplace out there is a spider spinning a web "Some Pig, Some Shot..."
