no more 430 challenge grille

i put inital deposit on 08 430 spider - been told by dealer that challenge grille is no longer available for 2007 and future models as grille did not meet dot crash guidelines

 

Geez........next they'll discontinue the headlights because they didnt meed DOT crash guidelines. :x

 

I really like the way the grille looks, at first I didnt but it grew on me o well

 

That's strange because I just ordered a 430 and it was equipped with a challenge grill? June '07 delivery scheduled. USA Model.

 

Scratch that off the 430 LP special options list.

Trying to keep if on the QT for whatever reason

 

If true this sounds like an excellent after-market opportunity and, if true, it's a pity as I really liked that option.

I also thought it would be a great aftermarket piece, until I found out the cost and the labor involved to install one. Something like $12K and new rear bumper! No thanks. The 360 is a much easier grill change.

 

That should make the grille that much more desirable and help resale, no?

 

i ordered my car with the challenge grill ... should be here july 28

hopefully i got lucky ... still playing the waiting game

 

I also have a July build car which was spec'd with the challenge grill. fingers crossed!

 

this is a rumor, not confirmed by FNA.

 

I have a july delivery date and the grill is spec'ed! It better be on there!! I'll keep you posted.

I just spec'ed the carbon challenge grill on my F430 coupe (October build) and was told no problem at all.

 

Jimmy, I think it looks better in person, in pictures it looks a bit like an after thought.

 

Agreed. In person it looks a lot better - even better on darker colours, too. Actually, I think think that it looks good on all colours but the least attractive colour for it is red.

Hey Jimmy! WOW! you get around!! I remember you from the M-5 group site! They used to get madd at you because you did'nt have a M-5 (just a 540i) How's everything going? I also agree that the Grill looks great on darker cars , namely Silverstone!!!

Tarek, Hello.. you and I have almost the same car.. mine is due next month(July) All interior CF, I special ordered a yellow stripe on the steering wheel to match the Tach. I have two tone black with charcoal interior w/ heavy silver stitching. the rest is about the same. I think your car is awsome!!!!

 

Congratulations in advance Michael and thank you. The yellow stripe on the steering wheel is a nice touch, didn't know it was possible. I would have done it if I knew. I too have the yellow tach. Mine has also a complete CF interior (lower and upper). I can imagine your interior color combination, black, charcoal with CF and silver stitching. IMO it will be very elegant. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.
