Youre welcome. Glad I could help.

With persistence and good connections you can find anything. I remember years ago when I set out to search for the ex-Frank Sinatra Miura that everybody said no longer existed. "Youre wasting your time" they all told me (which for me only motivates me more. LOL). Well it was actually fairly easy to find after a breif investigation. Same thing with Walter Wolf: "Nobody knows where this reclusive multi-millionaire is Joe, Cmon dont waste your time". Six months later: "Hallo, yah zis eez Walter...."

I suppose I really do enjoy the chase and to motivate me I like to think of the motto of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who say: "We always get our man"....... (Even if it takes a long time).

Now I can tell you about all the times Ive failed to find anything...

  4. I read somewhere, (maybe here?) that the Countach was a grey market car in the US until 1986. Is that true? Some had cobbled up fuel injection systems, some didn't, but some how they all came with the same big ugly bumpers?

Registries have to rely on information presented as being accurate and here again we have solved yet another car's original history. The goal is to show that we always strive to update and correct what is the received wisdom.

    1121038
    Countach # 169
    Blu Tahiti.
    Pelle Blu.
    Completed April the 13th 1979.
Supplied via S.E.A Automobili Roma (first client not noted)

Whats interesting here is that someone had told us the car was originally Blu Acapulco. The records make no note of a white interior. Also of interest is that the completion date of this car is prior to that of the later-chassis #36, but that is TYPICAL of Lamborghini production of the era and not unusual at all.

The attached car is another car at the factory showing what 'Blu Tahiti' in the period looked like.

I think from 86 on up is when fuelies were officially imported by Lamborghini into the states and that the FI versions prior to that were largely 2v versions that recieved the FI conversions..... The fuelies officially imported were all 4v variants... There were a wide variety of bumpers used for importation even prior to official importation, from dual square bumperswith integrated fog lights, dual rectangular bumpers, step rubber bumpers, even a wing in the front for bumper height purposes... And afterwards, the factory adopted one of these solutions which is the twin rectangular rubber bumpers... am I somewhat correct on that Joe? ;)

    Joe,
Thanks sooo much for the info!!!

It makes sense that Tahiti was the color, since it sure looks original and we can't find any evidence of any other color anywhere on the car! That's great! sure will save me a lot of money on a full repaint!

Would you happen to have any pictures of Pelle blu interior? Any chance the 2-tone interior is also original?

    - I was willing to wait, at the back of the line. With primer gray and bad shocks, you are not in a hurry to go anywhere.

The two-tone could be original, in fact likely so. Just because the records dont mention it dosent mean Bruno Paratelli didnt do it! I wouldnt change the leather, it would look cool with the Blu Tahiti....
    And gold wheels?

Hehe....! I am currently very busy making $$$`s with old Maseratis from the 50ies. So, no time for any Lamborghini yet. But silver is the most prefered color for me!

    Ciao!

    Dig on this,

A turbo Countach from the early eighties. A blow-through setup with webers.
I can only imagine that all the extra heat in that engine bay could not be kind to the drivetrain.

I am sure somebody here probably (owns) or knows about this car.

    Cheers
    Eric
