Anybody know off the top of their head the diameter of the short coolant hose under the plenum on a 308? Looks to be in the 1 3/4" to 2" range...

Also, while I'm in there any need to upgrade to a high temp material or just go with over the counter stuff?

    Thanks.

I used 1 5/8" hose for my '85 308. Napa Gold Stripe is the brand I used. It was very thick-walled, high quality stuff. Some guys allege using 1 1/2" hose, but I couldn't get that size to fit on my car. The 1 5/8" was easy to install for that location and worked out fine. I used double clamps all the way around to insure a leak-free seal.

I am replacing the coolant hose coupling that comes up from underneath the car right before the front bank on the 308 - the coupling is right behind the oil separator for the crankcase breather system. I can get to it by removing the driverside rear wheel. Is this hose 1 5/8 inner diameter also???
    thanks

I replaced the bad coolant coupling hose, those hoses are 1.5 inch ID, it is a tight fit, but works well. the 1 5/8 ID hose looked a bit sloppy with to much clearance. i used NAPA straight hose....

I use the same thing. 1-1/2" goes on fine with a little coolant for lubrication.
There is radiator hose grease designed for this, or even a little lithium grease will be o.k.

    (If I may be allowed a small joke) The Designer didn't specify 1 1/2" or 1 5/8" hose -- it's metric! ;)

Seriously, I believe the stock size is 38mm (1 1/2"), and it is a b*tch to get on in some places. 41mm (1 5/8") works OKish (and is a heck of a lot easier to get on), but you're relying more on compressive forces from the clamp for a good seal compared to the 38 mm (but it's not a huge point).

meteric is a PITA find however if you're into silcone :D then Pegasus has your number. they stock the metric hose, I bought 3ft and sent the left over 1.5 ft to another F-chatter.

the real PITA is the fuel filler hose on the Mondial and 3x8's. don't even get me started on that one.
