at first all I needed at home was a few small hand tools, then I need this or I need that, heck I have just as much here then at work, nothing now days takes a screw driver of pliers anymore
Okay, this is just killing me. I can't get under my 328 to poke around and my garage is 9 ft. So, a lift is out. Has anyone modified their truss system to raise the ceiling to make room for a lift? One of my builder friends suggested nailing 2x6s to the truss along the roof. Once in place, the truss can be cut off and dry wall nailed to the 2x6s. Does this sound okay? I have looked for building codes and what I have found is the reference to 2x8s and 2x10s, no 2x6s used in non-truss roofs.
9ft will work but you will have to roll around under the car on a four wheel mechanics stool to work on it, this works for me. I wouldn't play with the trusses and bracing useless you have it professionally done. House resale value plus roof sagging is something to think about. I can get a large 1986 Ford tbird and either the Porsche 911 or 308 on top with 9ft ceiling height. The Ford and the 911 are both lowered, this why I can get a large car on it. Right now the t-bird is on top and the porsche is under it. It's a tight fit but it makes it. The one thing you need to remember with a four post lift is you need to lift the top car up about 2.5 inches or so to swing the locks open to lower down the car. This is where the clearance issue is. I've had a lot of people tell me that there's no way I'm going to get two cars to stack like that until they see it. Again tight fit but it works for me. I can post a picture with you want. Jim
here is my old garage with 9 foot ceilings and it was tight but it worked.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Id have to say your Saleen S7 TT is probably the most popular S7 in the world. Its posted all over the net...videos and pics. Is your S7 also the same one that was in Vancouver last year? Great car, I love it!
Great info....Thanks. A picture would be appreciated. I am still measuring and my biggest issue is I have a Suburban and no way will that fit under the lift. If I let my wife park her car under it, I am concerned she may take out a post backing up. The only fix I can think of is to get another Ferrari and put one under the other. I may check into having a professional look at the garage and give an estimate for the modification.
Amazing garage, Ive seen the full res pics on another site and you have a very nice selection of cars.
I was downtown the day it was coming. The twin supercharged F430 was parked there. The guys at the restaurant told me the Saleen S7 was gonna be there in the evening. Too bad I couldnt stay.
here we go with mine........hope ypu like it is a combo....english pub....garage or is it backwards????? I dunno!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
