I'm not that knowledgeable about Lamborghini but the Gallardo really strikes me. Someone in town just got an orange spyder and it is just stunning.

Was 2004 the first year of production?

Are there any differences in the 2004 model vs. 2005 or 2006?

Does the e-gear command a premium?

I never thought I'd abandon the prancing horse for the bull but I do like that car.

    Thanks,

    Drew Altemara

Yes on 2004 as the first year. There are appreciable differences between 2006+ and 2005 and prior NON-SE versions; '05 SE versions are ok though, same power as the 2006+ models. Prior to 2005 and a half, no lifting system available to lift the front end when going over steep curbs, etc. E-Gear does have a premium and supposedly wears out clutches quicker as well, particularly if you baby it while accelerating from a stop. Spyder is '06+.

I had my Carbed Boxer out Sunday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, AL near North River Yatch Club. The Gallardo was in the other lane coming against me headed towards the country club. There are a couple of Doc's who have some of the newer stuff mainly Ferrari that live near that area. I assumed it was one of them. Maybe not.

    It was a neat car.

You won't be the first guy to get rid of a Ferrari for the Gallardo. I traded my Ferrari 550 in for the Gallardo. No regrets! My '04 has been flawless and quite enjoyable. My only recommendation if your purchase an '04 or '05 would be to replace the stock exhaust with a Tubi or such. This will make the car sound as good as it looks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
