Styling: 308 GTSi vs. 328 GTS

Thought that for the longest time but have come to like the gap. The cars with the standard 16inch wheels and the 55 series tires look wrong now to me same with lowered ones.

Still like lowering on custom wheels though.

I prefer the classic lines and simplicity of the early carb models. Everything from the seats-with a single seam, to the louverless front bonnet.
No ferrari 308/328 is ugly. I would say that the GTSi QV starts to look a bit Vegas. The 328 looks like what a banker would do to a 308 to civilize it (after the car has been repo'd from the 'bon vivant').
I already think the 328 is dated in looks both interioir and exterior. The more simple the design, the less it will date. Time will tell I guess....

 

A sweet 328..like these wheels. Trying to fill front fender gap with what i think is a 55 series tire doesn't work for me.

Thanks for using my car for your 308 example

Both 308 and 328 are beauties - to attempt to decide which is nicer merely reduces the amount of time we could be spending appreciating both of them for their own unique merits!

 

I agree im looking into lowering it about 1-1/2 inches,but im afraid I will be easy to damage the front air dam,since I have scraped it a few times already.

 

will it be ok to lower it 2" if you don't have the euro front spoiler or is that too much?

 

I love the way the second one that stuart posted (red euro with black interior) sits,but I bet you have to really be careful driving that one.I think its the best looking one yet.The tires and wheels make it look more up to date.

 

I think the euro spoiler makes the car look so much better,I cant live without it....

I'm torn between getting 328 wheels or QV wheels or the Speedline/Superformance ones in the pic and lowering the car.

I can't believe we're spending this much time debating cars that most people consider indentical...

I go either way, but black 328s were the cars that pulled me over the threshold of Ferrari ownership.

Great car - I agonised over that one before buying my 328 from them.

 

I still find myself looking at photos of a black euro 308 i had to pass on due to bad leakdown numbers.

Not that i don't love my car and it's color but now that i'm over the first Ferrari should be black thing i may wanna get a black one next time.

 

After reading the whole post, I had to weigh in. My preference would be early 308 GTB over 308 spider and then 328 B over 328 spider.
A few points. Just so people will know when everyone refers to the big lower spoiler on the Euro, this was an added on option and was not included in any of the very early cars or the early show examples. Check any books on the early show examples or new cars in most publications. Although the bigger rubber bumpers on my 79 coupe are a bit extreme compaired to the euro, they have grown on me and I would not change them to the early euro (pulled in ) style for protection reasons. I also like the look of the front hood as a smooth piece before they added the extra louvers for cooling. I am also not a huge fan of the "Boxer" wing they added later at the rear of the roof.
I believe it to have a beautiful and classy "Sports-car" interior.
It is very hot in the summer although I am lucky enough to have extremely great A/C compared to most.
The reflection on the windshield is probably my biggest complaint in the entire car, but I am too vain to use a dash matt.
That being said I still believe both 308/328 in coupe or spider are some of the most beautiful and greatest cars to ever grace the road. I have always loved the Dinos and find the 308 series to be a perfectly appropriate update for the changing times of the early 70's after the very attractive but quite different 308 GT4.
The carbeurated car I have feels to be the "whole " package for it's time of performance, and style that as much as almost any Ferrari or any other car for that matter delivers a true "once in a lifetime experience while still being able to have great fun on public roads while staying out of jail. Aklthough the newer models deliver truckloads more performance they may not offer any more bang for the true way I am able to drive and experience my car on real roads. By the way, I average about 12,000 miles a year on it and every mile is a great joy.
