Hey guys, I got an invite to the Lambo Giro event in SoCal this August. Starts on Aug 12th in Monterey and works its way north over 3 days. Anyone here going? Heard they're running 50 cars this year and wanted to get some feedback on previous experiences and how the crowd is.

    thanks.

I am out this year...to much at $4500.00 for a everyday drive up the Hwy 1...

Not as exciting as it has been in the past years..

Aside from the price, why? Fifty Lambos heading up Hwy 1 sounds exciting to me, especially if they drive like I do :)

Well, I've finished doing my homework on this event, which includes talking to people who have been on previous ones, and as far as I'm concerned it’s first class all the way including drive along factory support for the cars should any mechanical issues arise.

The event starts in Southern California at the beautiful Dana Point St. Regis Hotel and ends up in Monterey on the forth day. All the hotels you stay in along the way are excellent with killer locations.

Also, for anyone who is attending the Concorso Italiano event and really loves to drive their exotics this is the perfect way to get your car to the Monterey event. You'll enjoy a drive up the coast on one of the most beautiful/scenic roads on the planet with 50 other Lamborghini's.

You finish the event in Monterey near many of the best hotels that allow close access to the Concorso Italiano event.

A perfect way to start a great week that climaxes with one of the best car shows in the world.

Should be an event to remember :)

I think the drive has been "toned" down ever since the tragic accident 3 years ago with the Murcie rolling and catching on fire during the event drive. Prior to this, the events had more driving, more "off" the beaten path routes.

I can only assume that due to this incident, which I understand has a pending lawsuit, that insurance advisors and higher ups wanted to reduce the risk of a repeat event.

The venue is top class, but has almost become a running of the "Authorized Dealers" as well. Last year I would estimate that at least 1/3 of the cars were entered by Dealers, including myself (not an authorized dealer). It is nice to see the Management of Lamborghini on the event, as well as a first "suprise" look at the newer cars...I am sure they will have a "super leggera" on the run.

IMO however the price does not meet the event any longer.

Thanks for the comments Roy, I'm gonna give it a try anyway as I'm always looking for an excuse to drive my car :)

Boyd the year I went they weren't giving solo drivers a break in the price so...
screw them I booked the same first class hotels the same nights, drove with the guys missed a lunch, a breakfast, a dinner and saved $2000 I think it was.
After I booked everything and saw what I was saving they offered a small discount for solos...too late I decided to do it my way....something toconsider??????

Thanks for the input Wayne; I'll definitely look into it because myself and a couple of other Lambo owners are planning on going solo. The wife’s don't like the way we drive, imagine that :)
