Guys, who is going to replace Robert? Will Mario put Vettel in the car? Or Glock? An interesting occurance.
Questions: Opinions, should Massa and Fisichella been given the black flag, or should they have received a drive through penalty? Does anyone know for sure what the rule book says?
All I can say is, WOW! What an exciting race! Best wishes to Kubica. GREAT work from Lewis, I really get the feeling like were watching a legend crack his preverbial egg shell. SATO! Super Best Friends! i don't care what excuses Alonso has, he got passed by AGURI! Great race from Heiki and Wurz. What a great podium! Too bad my FOX feed went all pink and purple Let's hope they put on just as good a show LIVE in INDY! Can't wait to get there!
Fantastic race! Best race in a long time. Just hoping Kubica will be ok. Sounds like Vettel's chance has come.
Thanks to all for providing great commentary of the race! Alonso: no comment KR: doesnt sound like you deserve to be driving a Ferrari....
Right on, Here in Canada (itv) we heard that the undercarrage had damage from him going off road .......4 times!
Last year they had MS. Massa I think is doing great, that ruling is just frustrating. Kimi I have been waiting and waiting for him to "turn the corner" and it just isn't happening and it's not going to (this year at least). I just don't think he is as good as everyone thought.
According to the commentators the rule book is available online on the FIA website if anyone cares to look into the issue.
Thanks Fox and Speed TV for missing what is probably the most interesting post race interviews of the year...you dirty, lousy, stinkin S0Bs.
+1 I loved that Sato pass This was the most interesting race that I have seen for a long time. Does anyone else think that it was a mistake to bring the Ferraris in for a pit stop during the 1st SC incident?
Kimi has been very disappointing this season. In fact, free up some of the money going to him and bring in another driver! Unbelievable for him to be getting paid that kind of money to underperform the way he is. I really hope the Italian media bring it to him this week. As for Felipe, READ THE RULE BOOK! Overall, a very interesting race. Congrats to Lewis Hamilton and Sato for that move on Alonso.
Brian will have to pick up duties of "official race thread" since Ron will be there at the race. We'll be thinking about being at the train station to take the train to the airport after the 24 Hours at the time of race start. We're headed to France on Wednesday for the greatest of all races. We'll check in when we can to see how the USGP is going. Hopefully there will be something on Speed News tonight with more podium, interviews. Watching Lime Rock race on Speed TV now. Carol
You think that was a crash fest? With a lot of rookies Champ Car dose it's first standing start at Portland. 4M EST on ABC.
What a race! Now get Brawn back, kick Kimi in his finnish butt, sit Schumi in his cockpit and let him support Massa (on whose performance today we'd rather not comment...). Why the hell didn't Kimi even manage to get Kovalinen in the end? Seeing Sato pass Alonso was indeed priceless. We should all get that very moment on a big poster framed at the wall. Alonso drove like a beginner today. According to Norbert Haug who spoke to the German television directly after the race, Alonso would have been able to get on the podium at the end of the race and there were no problems. He didn't comment on why Alonso didn't do that, then... Mario Theissen said that Kubica was alright and maybe had a broken ankle. No other broken bones, no serious injuries.
+1,000 Every time I saw that yellow helmet in the McLaren I was having flash backs. All he needs to do is change the white ring to a green one.
Well he set the fastest lap for the race, so I think he has the capacity to be faster than Hamilton, or at least keep up with him for the duration of the race, without the mechanical troubles, which I think is what occured after wtaching replays of his running off for 5 consecutive times on that same piece of the circuit, which seems to be a bit too often to attribute to mere drving errors, I definitely think he is suffering from a braking problem today, either that or his car seems to be oversteering, while I think he is definitely no Schumacher, I think he is a match for Hamilton, although in terms of qualifying times they are neck and neck, I wonder if Schumacher can be faster than Hamilton if he races for Ferrari again, I know this is a touchy topic, but regarding the subject of Hamilton moving to Ferrari, is it likely that he will face racism in Ferrari, I know that Ferrari has had race drivers who are not white, but if he goes to Ferrari, he will be the first Black driver that they hire? I am asking this since Ferrari is an Italian team, and a few days ago I watched a report in the BBC about Italians having trouble integrating their Chinese immigrants in Milan, and based on my impressions on my trip to Italy a month ago, compared to say Germany an the UK, non white immigrants in Italy do seem to be less integrated in Italian society that in other Western European countries.
While clearly this was LH's race, I'm going to give the outstanding moral victory to Sata on the minnows that roared.
I already conceded that yes they did have MS last year so it's going to be more up to the engineers and mechanics to close the gap, but I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet still over half the season to go. I too am still waiting for Kimi to turn corners a bit faster.
Massa. The red light is clearly visible at the end of the pit lane, just as every ordinary traffic light.
OK sorry I take my statement back, if what Norbert Haug said was true, that Alonso's car was not suffering from mechanical problems in the race, then that was indeed a very crappy drive from Alonso today, it's just very hard to believe that a two time world champion can make that many mistakes in one race, in fact it seems to stretch the realm of possibility for a two time world champion to make 4 mistakes on the same part of the circuit in a race, which led to my initial conclusion that there was indeed, something wrong with Fernando Alonso's car today, either a braking problem, or he is suffering from a lack of grip, since his car seems to be understeering.
