If Kubica really suffered a fracture in the race, will BMW move Vettel up to #2? Will we get a chance to see this potentially new young superstar at Indy? He made a fantastic F1 debut last year in Monza's practice session putting fastest time on the track. Now we might get a chance to see whether that was down to low fuel or whether Germany has its next hero in the making (not that they're too unhappy with Nick after today anyway). I wish Kubica a speedy recovery and look forward to see Vettel in his first GP.
+1 Even if Sebastian is brilliant, Mario is in a bit of a pickle. He has to juggle three great drivers, one of them will get the boot.
I had the same idea today. I hope we'll see him, and if he performs well, please make him a regular driver at BMW, not at Toro Rosso or wherever. McLaren shows us what to do with aspiring young talents.
Friday practice doesn't mean that much to me. Davidson has been the Friday king, and Wurz and Delarosa were on top of the charts as well. Vettel isn't exactly setting the world a light in lower formulae in the way Hamilton dominated them. We'll see what happens. I hope Kubica will be fine and back in the car next week.
While I'm glad to hear that, the chance for Vettel is still there: Normally after such a shunt the doc won't let the driver back so soon and since Indy is coming up in a week, who knows. I remember Ralfie and his crashes at the USGP: The problem is concussion and the rupture of all the little blood lines from the skull to the brain. Given how violently Kubica was thrown around in that wreck, I would expect him to have suffered a serious concussion. I heard he was unconscious.
My only gripe is that this report calls it a "German" team. The cars are still being built and developed in Switzerland.
I wonder if Vettel started that "broken leg" rumor. If Nick manages a win, would they play the German anthem or the Swiss one? (Well, German for Nick, but ...)
LOL Good point. BTW: Nick lives in Switzerland. Has been for many years. Same village as Kimi and where Massa used to live.
Wow! Robert is going to be released tommorow? That's great! I wonder if he'll be ready to race at Indy?
