What does the team have to do? (race spoiler)

To get kimi's butt moving? I think we've had a thread like this before, but after this race all the "he just needs to acclimate" excuses aren't really holding up.

Would putting Schumi in the car to run some test laps get him worried? Do they need to start contract renegotiations early to show him he can't just mosey around the track come race day? What do you guys think?

 

What if he is already burnt out?

Remember Mika and his glory years and suddenly it was all over. Or even Ralfie had a few good seasons. What if Kimi has already used up his fire on his previous campaigns?

Maybe nothing will get him going and he is despite his relatively young age already a has-been. A depressing thought, but so are currently his lackluster drives.

 

Tell him that the only alcohol he can drink is the Champagne on the podium, he’d win everything.

 

I think it's a matter of just naturally having it what it takes to handle the pressure or not.... and I think he just doesn't. It's too bad, we all had high hopes for him at the beginning of the season. After every race people "it's too early to count him out this season" and I think it's time to face reality.

As of right now my two favorite drivers to root for are Massa and Hamilton. I've never like Alonso, and Kimi isn't winning many friends either.

 

Nothing is going to get Kimi to acclimate. Though he has the talent and skills he just doesn't have the character or mental edge.

 

After all his disappointments in a McLaren, maybe he thought being in a Ferrari was going to be a cake walk.

I am beginning to think you are correct. He is just too independent for this Italian team. Despite the black flag, Massa stayed in the garage until the end of the race. As would have Schumacher.

Kimi leaves.

Every race, fewer and fewer of the crew have faith in Raikkonen.

I agree with the myraid of posts on here about the worth of Kimi. Which at this point isn't much. Even David Hobbs commented today about the person who was brought in and "filled Michael Schumacher's shoes" was a disappointment. Way, way over paid for his services. I have been thinking about this - perhaps we are seeing the best Kimi has to offer. He's definitely over-shadowed by Lewis and rightfully so. In the past he (Kimi) was faster and a bit bolder than others so of course he stood out, but now there's better drivers on the scene and he's on a slide going the wrong direction. What Ferrari needs now more than ever are team players sharing learned information to utilize in a manner to get the team back in the winning way. It seems that Kimi is somewhat lacking in this department.

Perhaps Kimi should consider the soon to be vacant seat at Renault if Heikki goes to Williams and Rosberg could come to Ferrari. I don't think establishing a Hamilton To Ferrari Fund collection jar would be fruitful.

So what's the solution? End his contract at the end of this year? Who would replace him? Is there even a viable replacement? All the superstar drivers are taken, and the other good drivers are contracted for years except Heidfeld. That's it! Replace him with Heidfeld! That way, at least there is a driver who is both talented and motivated. Also, you wouldn't even have to pay him a third of what Kimi is currently getting.

 

If in fact Flavio works the deal for Heikki going to Williams, keep Wurz and send Rosberg to Ferrari and Kimi to Renault. The money saved with the salary for Rosberg could buy an updated FIA Rule Book with the remainder deposited back into the racing kitty.

After today, I have a different opinion of Kimi. No, not jumping on the get rid of him bandwagon. I understand for the most part he is doing his best at driving. The problem is in the car, it lags in development for many reasons other than Kimi.

What most people will have a hard time accepting is that Massa has learned so much from Michael, that he is now driving like Michael and has surpassed his teammate at driving a very very mediocre car.

what break? it was a fact that Massa was driving a solid race yesterday till he got black flagged. anyhow, u can't runaway from the fact that Massa's been performing better since Malaysia, compared to Kimi.

Agree ... my point is, Massa beats Kimi NOT because he knows how to drive an inferior car ... it's because he is as good or better than Kimi. With all the hours Kimi has in the car and as "GREAT" as he is billed, he should be contending NOW.

What could possibly be your short sighted point?

 

My point was that Massa has become better than Kimi because of the personal time the Schumacher has spent with him the last 12 months.

I don't make wild claims to or about drivers entire careers after just a couple of races like SOME people around here.... I sometimes launch a guess or perhaps even a prediction but to grasp onto an entire set of goals for someone I've never met, is nuts!

 

Yeah Massa has admitted this himself. Other drivers have also suggested that this is the case. An interview with Fisichella was posted here with him saying this.

Now that this is established, i'm not sure that the Ferrai could be considered "mediocre". The Renault is mediocre, the Toyota is mediocre. The Ferrai was the better car a few races this season: Melbourne, Barcelona, Bahrain etc. It's still the second best car on the grid, and don't count out Ferrari making a comeback.

 

There are issues with the car. There are serious grip problems. You have heard about the "explosion" in the wind tunnel that set back aero development since Spain. The team is still feeling the effect of this. Wasn't my terminology to call the car mediocre, just what I heard the team is feeling.

What I am beginning to believe is that Massa is that good now as to make the car perform better than anyone else could. He is likely better than Kimi at this point in time. How else can anyone explain why he is doing better than Raikkonen. His fuel load was heavier than Kimi's for Montreal.

You contradict youself. You grasp on to entire sets of goals for everyone you criticize, and you have never met any of these drivers. That is nuts.

How can it possibly be good that most of, as you call them rejects, did not finish? Without any of these drivers there would be no F1. Massa is faster than his own teammate, faster than most any other driver, so how is he a reject? He is becoming the #1 at Ferrari rather quickly.

The point being is that most all of your posts are negative, have nothing good to say about anyone, use chidlish language, and usually make no point at all. Drivers in mediocre cars are not necessarily second rate. They may actually be the reason a car is performing better than it should.
