I have read a lot of posts about spacers added to this car and that car for handling. Does anyone have a measurement from outside of tire to outside of tire front and rear? Thanks in adavance, Scott

I have the 225 18 front, and 295 18 rear HRE wheels, just not sure I need spacers or not!

You need to state which car you have and what the offset is for the wheels

I have a 95 348 spider. The wheels are HRE, not stock. Thats why I was asking for the width/track from outside edge to outside edge of tire. I think they are stock 355 offserts but not sure, Scott

Your owners manual has the stock 355 track width. Then you can compute yours and compare and use spacers to adjust out if needed but you can't adjust in. But usually a bit more is better until you tweek the geometry or load the wheel bearing etc too much.

I measured outside of wheel to outside of wheel, and I got 1907.2mm. I have 295 rear tires, so subtracting that I get 1612.2. My manual (348) says rear track should be 1628. According to the above I am under the stock track width for the rear wheels currently. So, if I buy 25mm spacers, track width would be1662.2. Maybe there is a spec for the track width on challenge cars? I don't want to go too far! Whaddya think, Scott

Well it is just math. first you have a 355 but are using the 348 manual? I would look at a 355 manual. SEcond 295 tires may not be 295 due to manufacturing nomenclature etc. So you first need to know how th facotry calls track. So if it is LR center to RR center on the wheel in the back for example then you need to find the 1/2 width of the 295 tire and do some math to find your track. Then decide if you want spacers for more or less than OEM width and what other guys who run your car say as it pertains to how your car handling may change with varying widths. So yeah it sounds like you are on the right track if your math is correct. I run 348 with 355C wheels so my track is well I never measured it. If I had spacers to borrow I would put them on and tell all of you what they did. They are not exactly cheap and you need new bolts so I'm too cheap to space my wheels unless I know I am going to get a benefit.

I do understand what you mean by measuring from the center of tire to center of tire.(I had it on the lift last night when I measured) I will get a helper and measure again this weekend, and post a "booty" shot as it is now. (No, not PAPs kind) ;o)

What is the max negative camber you have seen guys run on the street/track? When I post the pic you will see I have a lot. Car handles well, but it does wear the tires a little secondary to the rear camber. I have seen/heard people say it should be 1-2 degrees, but it looks like twice that to me, Scott

Well alignment in the manual is a good place to start. I have run up to -3.25 but that is on racing slicks at a good pace and solid suspension. This would just not be appropriate for street driving.
