With the the rumours of a revival of the Dino I'm wondering how the car will be classified. I think most people regard the Dino as a ferrari since it was made, (and perhaps again will be made) by Ferrari/Fiat. However, litterature mention the Dino as a separate brand from Ferrari. The Ferrari brand was back in the late 60's and early 70's, reserved for the V or flat twelves and later for the V8's. As the Dino was a 6 cylinder it got its own badge. I've seen prancing horse shields on dinos which most people associate with Ferrari but the Dino at its inception only had the Dino badge. Enzo himself insisted that the car didn't get the prancing horse. So what is the proper nomenclature for this car? If the Dino 208 (1968-1969) and the 246 (1969-1973) wasn't a ferrari, what then will the new Dino, if it goes into production, be classified as? -Peter
The argument is purely academic, in my opinion. However one wishes to classify is fine with me. Jimmy
