Has anyone tried the Bridgestone RE050A's on a Stradale. I have a set of Michelin PS2's now that do not feel very good in the corners. The turn in seems slow and not very confidence inspiring. Before I pull the trigger on Tire Rack for a set of Bridgestones I thought I would ask if anyone else has tried them.

I also used a set of Challenge slicks on a track day and it was unbelievable. Fantastic handling and very secure feeling. I did have the alignment done after three years and it needed some adjustments. If you have a Stradale and it hasn't had the alignment checked I would certainly recommend it.

    These are amazing cars.

What size Challenge slicks did you use? I have RE050A's on my M3 and they do the job. I am not sure how they would do on a Stradale. I just bought a set of OEM's P's for the rear of my Stradale, fronts are in very good shape so I have some time.
Let me know how it turns out, being P's are not that easy to come by.

The standard Challenge slicks fit the Stradale perfectly. These are by Pirelli and are available from Bob Woodman Tires who goes to all the Challenge races with a full inventory and tractor trailer set up. I bought a spare set of wheels and they will mount them for you or they will UPS them to you and they can be mounted by any good tire shop. They are a little expensive but the experience is amazing. On a 2:00 lap they were 7 seconds faster than the Michelins.

    Joe,

I ran REO50s on my Strad last spring at Infineon. *Do not*, under any circumstance, consider these tires for track use. Mine went away after just 2 laps. Severe understeer ensued. Great tires for the street, though.

Slicks are the answer BUT you will wear out bearings etc much more quickly. You will also need to set the car up differently with less toe in at the front and max negative camber on all 4 corners. This makes the car less ''COMFORTABLE" ON THE ROAD - BUT WHO CARES!!!

If you do not want to go the slicks way, then you need the Pirelli P Zero Corsa "C". The sizes are very slightly different but it is not a problem. This is the "real" P Zero and it is a (slightly) treaded slick.

Finally, you can join the Club Ferrari France who hqve Pirelli as a partner with a semi full of tyres at each track outing!

A 430 on slicks is also wonderful but cannot keep even close to a Stradale.

Be glad to join and maybe you can get Pirelli to send your US Ferrari Club friends a container of 225/35ZR19 PZero Corsa's.

Can anyone post pictures so that the rest of us could see the difference between the various option of the P-zeros and slicks just so that we are able to make an informed purchase on the next tire change.
    Very curious.
    Thanks

pirelli hasn't made the p zero corsa tires for over a year. some guys here in the US have managed to scrounge up some corsas here and there, but for all practical purposes they are no longer available. pirelli says that they have NOT discontinued making these tires, but they do not know if/when they will make them in the future :( i've even called a couple good tires sources in europe and they told me they can't get them either.

can you clarify your post? it seems to say that you can get p zero corsas in the size for the stradale (front and rear). if this is correct can you post the contact info of the tire source? maybe we can get them to ship some to the US :)

Rick, Apparently only the 225's are the problem. Tire Rack along with other Pirelli dealers currently have 285's in stock. It's all a mystery as to why they stopped producing these sizes in the Corsa's. Although somewhat limited there were certainly enough CS's produced to justify production. Hell, the tire was specically developed for the CS. Probably just an Italian thing.

I have the B-stones on an F430 spider. I put 100+ miles on them at the VIR Challenge/track event and they held up well. Another f430 spider owner had the Pirellis and they started to delaminate on both front tires where the sidewall meets the tread. His car even had some tread blocks come off. We were only going at 8/10th's, but we followed each other for many of the laps and our driving styles and times were very similar. Both cars had about 1200 miles on them when we started. I used more of the tread than his Pirellis, but the Bridgestones did not cup at all and are still very usable on the street. The Pirellis cupped so bad that the tires will probably need to be replaced before it goes back on the road.

The Pirellis that are on a 430 are P Zero Rosso. A completely different tyre that is essentially a decent road tyre - certainly not a track tyre. However, the problem that you describe would indicate that the driver was not paying attention to his tyre pressures ....

By the way, congratulations! If you can take a 430 to 8/10ths, you should call Maranello and apply for a job!

i checked tirerack.com and they show p zero corsa (in addition to corsa system) but the corsa they show are only in 17 and 18 inch and the sizes are very limited. what size did pirelli "bless" for the stradale?

They hasn't been my experience at all, they are wearing very well, and the grip is superb. I'm definitely a repeat buyer for the Pirelli P Zero Rosso. Sounds to me like the pressures were off.

On Tire Rack it seems Michelin has a tire designed specifically for the Stradale. Has anyone tried this tire? PS2 Ferrari. The details say it is for the 2004 Stradale. Not sure I want to try it since the standard PS2 is so poor on my car.

The above photo was not the P Zeros on the car at VIR. It was an '06 spider and the P-Zeros on it were the factory supplied tires(OEM). Most of the guys were running between 35 and 42 psi under recommendation from the guys running the clinic. One of the other students put his 355 into a wall and one of the instructors ran my car off at turn one, so I was running at 8/10ths for me. That probably equates to 3.5/10's to one of the factory guys if I'm lucky. SpeedChannel is going to run the Challenge race and they interviewed some of us for the lead ins to commercial. Maybe you can identify his tires on one of these clips. If you haven't participated in one of these events it was great.
