I changed the wheels on my car today. Now when I try to move the car the car won't move like if the parking brake is on!!! But the parking brake is not on. I lifted the car again and the rear wheels don't spin, WTF???!!!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Have the new wheels, jammed up against the rear brake calipers? ;);)
You may have the incorrect offset wheels there buddy. :):)

let me go check. They are 355 wheels with 15mm spacers from ricambi. Can't imagine that is the problem

turns out the bolts I got from ricambi were too long. I asked in the comments for the combo I have, but these bolts when through the end of the hole and grabbed something behind in the wheel. Hope I didn't damage anything. I'll have to ask ricambi for an exchange

So I spoke to Daniel today and as strange as it seems, it appears that my wheels are the issue. The did send me the correct bolts, but they stick out too far. Its almost like the wheels have 5mm less material than normal 355 wheels. The wheels do say ferrari stamped inside them and are magnesium alloy (I verified with the shop that fix the lip on one of them).Possibly the previous owner machined them down for some reason? Doesn't make any sense.... Anyhow it can be fixed by bigger spacers or shorter bolts so it will work out, but it is very odd.

Does anyone know if Ferrari ever made different rear 355 wheels in terms of offset?

Longer wheel bolts would make for a great practical joke...

so what are you thinking....? That I got screwed on Ebay and got fake ferrari wheels? :) Certainly could be although as far as fakes go, they are pretty damn good. They have all the stampings in the right places and are *light* and made of magnesium allow.

This is what is stamped inside the wheel:

I dont know mate! :p:p Strange that the bolts were 'too' long. Or maybe the face of the wheel hub was machined down, but for what reason? Hard to really know whats going on without actually being there sorry mate. :):)

... you know, another thing to check (but you'll have more spacers tomorrow anyway) is to check the condition of the wheel inserts. If they are cracked, it's possible the bolt is sliding through as the insert gives way. ?!?! ?

I think they are OK but will double check tomorrow when I take them off.

I figured I would post a followup in case this can help someone.

So I got the 20mm spacers from Ricambi and installed them today. This fixed my problem, now I get a full 10 turns of thread and no binding. I did double check that the 67mm hill engineering bolt sticks out 1 1/8" past the inside of the wheel with the 15mm spacer on. This according to daniel is not normal, it should be more like 22 mm.

I looked at the back of the wheels and they don't look machined to me. There is a circular piece on the inside of different material that says speedline that is flush with the back plate of the wheel. There is a picture below. Can anyone tell me if that is the way normal 355 wheels are like?

Also below is a picture of my hub and of the damage caused by the longer bolts. If you look at the last picture in the hole you can see how the bolt created a circular indentation on the metal that is behind the thread. I don't know whether I should worry about this or not.

Anyhow, I guess the moral of the story is if you are putting 355 wheels on your 348, make sure you measure how far the bolts stick out from behind the wheel and ensure that it is not too much more than the regular bolts stick out from behind the 348 wheels.

I would be curious to know why I had this problem if someone can figure it out.

    Thanks,

    -Eric
