Front wheel offsets are a just a little "off," the tire needs to be a little more under the wheel well IMO Overall though Mondi's lines come alive with bigger wheels. Get that car for $13K-$15K and you're half way to your project.
It surprises me how clean the engine bay is...yet the body has rust. Usually, many of the cars I look at, have corrosion of the engine bits/cad plating/injectors/screws etc, but the bodies are perfect. Seems ferrari used some very weak anticorrosive coatings in the engine bay...
They left off mentioning the most important upgrade of all - it looks to have been fitted with the later blade style fusebox, which is the most important upgrade for these early cars.
The wheels are the Voxx MG. Not sure of size, but it appears to have a +40 offset as my Voxx Misano look to stick out of the front fenders about the same amount. I am looking into taking 5 - 10 mm off the wheel's hub mating surface (thus chaning offset from +40 to +35) and that may make a difference. Overall the Mondial looks good. I like the painted lowers and bumpers, I do not like the painted muffler cover and I think the spoiler up front should be body color. I'm not a fan of the steering wheel or the shift knob. I *DO* want to know where he got the fuse box though. I would love to convert mine to the blade style fuse box. It looks to me that at least the upper radiator hose is silicon or otherwise a wrap of some sort. Probably not a bad buy for someone who can put a little TLC into it. Bob

second that and look real hard at the wiring on the innrer edge, especially the A/C one. That steering wheel and gear shift top suck! Documents lost...well I guess anything can happen?
Luckily my new-to-me Mondial had the fuse block replaced about 8 years ago with the later blade style box. I still need to replace my old relays though. I am not a fan of the painted bumpers on the early Mondials. Maybe it's just me, but it looks painfully like a black rubber bumper someone spray painted. They just never look quite right. The painted exhaust "diaper" looks bad as well. I would just take it off before painting it. Also, that steering wheel needs to be taken out immediately and used to beat senseless whoever put it on and then decided "man, that looks good". And for good measure they should then be pelted upside the head with the shift knob. I like the wheels and otherwise it looks like a nice, straight car. Could be a good one for somebody after a little TLC.
I am not sure, but I THINK you can get one from Ferrari UK. You could also try T. Rutlands. I saw the thread with your new wheels by the way, looks great! How is your first few weeks of Mondial ownership going?
Hey guys teach me something? I don't know Mondi's well. Do Mondi's have the same type of big "plastic" piece that covers all the stuff under the front hood like a GT4? (master cly, etc.)
Thanks for the heads-up Nathan! I'll give T Rutlands a buzz to see if they have a newer style fuse block. My guess is that it'll be VERY spendy. Thanks about the wheels too! I'm excited as the new tires/wheels made a huge difference in handling and enjoyment of the car. Overall, Mondial ownership is fun. Lots of little things to handle like trying to get the power windows working better and replacing the cigar lighters with normal ones so I can use a radar detector or a GPS unit. I even fixed the headlight switch myself with the help of this forum. (basically the cold solder problem.) I'm really getting familiar with the car. How has your ownership experience been for the last few weeks? I think your Mondial was fully sorted by the previous owner, so it's pretty much a "drive and enjoy" vehicle, right? Bob
I looked closely at picture #6 of this car, a bit wavy underneath the car, around the middle maybe under the floorboards? Is that normal? or are my eyes playing tricks? Overall, besides being just a bit "pimped out", it does look like a nice car. I like the wheels, wonder if taking some of the inside mating area (mentioned by another poster) would work because I do think they look nice. James in Denver
James, I'll let everyone know sometime in the next few weeks how it turns out. The hub mating surface should have enough material to remove 5 - 10 mm. That would make the offset of those Voxx MG wheels +30 or +35 (depending on material removed.) But that may necessitate the use of a shorter lug bolt. IMO it's not strictly necessary unless the car is lowered, but it would look a little better. I did look closely at those wheels and tires in the pics and it's indeed a 245/45-17. So that's the same setup I have on my Mondial except I'm using the Voxx Misanos. Both the MG and Misanos are $125 a piece from America's Tire in the 17x8 size. Bob
I don't like it. I'm not a purist by any means, but too much red. Painted bumpers, painted diaper....just too much. It has lost the contrasting color/black that makes the design interesting. I'm not a fan of the painted bumpers in general, although I have seen some Mondials that it works on. Painting the diaper over the muffler body color is too much. Car looks in good shape, but this sets off warning bells all over the place: Im listing this Ferrari for a friend here in Portland, Oregon. This car has one registered owner (still named on the title) and the second owner has only driven the car approximately four times since purchasing it 4 years ago. Car now has 27k original miles. Unfortunately, he lost the records, but CarFax thoroughly verifies one owner and the mileage up to 19k in 2003. Clear title with no issues. So we have a guy that has owned it for 4 years but never transferred title from the previous owner. But he's not the guy selling it. Hmmm. So guy A is selling it for guy B who bought it from guy C, and the title is still in the name of guy C. Fishy. So guy B is a flipper and the car hasn't been registered in 4 years. Who are we buying from exactly? Who knows, this could be legit, but it's still fishy. And not transferrring title is illegal I think. Let me guess, guy B is going to want to transfer the title from guy C to the buyer to avoid taxes. Conveniently guy B lost the records of a one owner car, but Carfax will "verify." Carfax? Verify what? Please, carfax can't verify squat. And without records, a one-owner car means nothing. So what if it had one owner? The advantage of a one-owner car is that the owner will be known and have records. On the flip side, at least we know who the "original" owner is, because he's still on the title! If this car had any more horsie stickers on it, I would think it was a kit car. Good lord, take the damned stickers off the car!! Birdman
I'm actually thinking about bidding on this car, as it's local to me. [I'm in Camas, WA] What would be a fair price? It looks like it's getting some decent attention, as it's up to $15k already - with 3 days left.
Go see it in person and ask about the title. Buyer beware. I would not go over $20K, but that's me, I don't like the paint job. Mondial 8s are good, fun, generally reliable cars that are easy to work on yourself and certainly a good example is worth $25K. Birdman
Thanks - I was thinking $18-$19k as a ceiling. I don't mind the paint too much, and if he has title in-hand, I'm not too worried. I'll try to see it this weekend. If it's good, maybe he'll let me buy it on the spot. That steering wheel will be the first thing to go...
