Lets see now the Audi R8 will get a 'sport' version followed by a V10? The Gallardo starts off with a V10 then has a more powerful V10. Now wouldn't a V8 Gallardo be getting awfully close to a V10 powered R8 price wise? Which has the greater attraction; the Lamborghini 'name' or the V10 engine.....? CH
ahhh.. why ! cheapening of the marque thats all it will do. Honestly if Audi Keeps this up I wont even consider a Lambo when it comes time. its a Lamborghini its suppose to be expensive and exclusive- thats why people dream of it. i Think the Gallardo was the worst thing to come from lambo...all just because they needed a quick buck. (these are my opinions im not saying they are right or wrong)
I sincerely doubt this is a V8 gallardo, or if it is, its not a gallardo but rather just a test mule for some other car; lamborghini is at near capacity anyway; A V8 doesnt really fit into what the company wants, as it would alienate V10 gallardo buyers imo.
Audi said no diesel for the R8. A light RWD V8 Gallardo can still be priced fairly high and the Gallardo can be moved upmarket, just like the future 430 replacement.
I call BS on it. It would be back tracking. If they are going to make something that will challenge the "dino" then I would think they would make a whole new vehicle, not down grade the baby lambo. If they do, it gives me another reason to want a Coutach, Muira, or Diablo.
I agree, very little real story here. But it is an interesting idea if you look at the NSX. Sales faded after 6 years. Gallardo sells good for the 1st five years, and then interest fades as the price creeps up near $200k with the constant increases in HP. In the 6th year, a 3rd option might work.... offer a car with a V8 in the $130k range... and you get sales volume as big as you had in the 1st or 2nd year all-over-again. Keep selling a few of the special edition Gallardos with 600hp + but you're not going to sell many of those as the price tops 200k mark Reminds me of when I was in College and the 350Z, RX7 and NSX...all got too expensive for their class. Every year the car got more expensive until they just died. The real question is- How many Gallardo's can they make a year? Without a 2nd plant I don't see how they could produce a low cost, high volume Gallardo? .
Lamborghini are locked into only two models. That is what they have to work with. They will not do another car line. They are concentrating on various versions of the same two models. The 4wd is a cornerstone of their current products. Can't see them going to rwd. Even the Superleggera was tried with rwd but it was rejected because of the loss of security the driver felt in the handling of the SL. The weight difference was only like 60 pounds and they achieved the SL weight loss through other means. CH

Possible engine: 4.2L V8 FSI Bi-Turbo 550hp/6400-6800 750Nm/1700-6000 7speed DSG 0-100: 3.7s Max: 330km/h or new 5002ccm V10(it is NOT the same engine as Gallardo's!) FSI Bi-turbo 600hp/6400-6800 800Nm/1700-6000
Thats just stupid like taking the V-10 out of the Viper to drop in a Hemi V-8. its taking away its MOJO~!. For that Lamborghini should have just released the Cala as a smaller more affordable sportscar and then use a V8, that way there's something else to offer in the lineup. So for it looks like Audi is going to be responsible for lamborghinis death at the rate they are going its only a matter of time. Lambos must have more than 10clyinders otherwise its not a lamborghini!.
This will never ****ing happen!! Some idiot reporter is on the crack and every keyboard warrior wannabe owner thinks "****" Get real...
At a business stand point, they will sell a sh__ load if price goes way down for the smaller motor; but it will lose it's exotic feel once that happens if it really will. I vote NO for it.
