This recently came VERY highly recommended to me over Norton and McAfee and I was wondering if anyone here is using this software.

The person from the Geek Squad at Best Buy said that it will use less than 10% of your memory while perfoming scans and that there is virtually no slowdown.

He recommeneded it so much so that he worked previously at Circuit City here in town and convinced them to stock it in their store. So he was actually telling me to go there and buy it, which made me want to believe his sincerity.

All of the reviews online look solid and that it catches a lot more problems than any other software currently on the market. Even finds some Trojans that Norton doesn't find.

But one thing confused me when looking at the products they offer. They have Kaspersky Anti-Virus for $59. Then they have Kaspersky Internet Security for $79.

What I can't figure out is if you get all of the Anti-Virus protection if you purchase the more expensinve Internet Security thing for $79.

    Anyone know?

So did he buy both? Is it a must for full protection?

    Kaspersky is a good product.

    Norton and MacMcafeeffee are not.

    Kapersky or Nod32.
Best AV programs for Windows out there.

Or you could just not run Windows.

I use it and IMO its the 2nd best AV out there (Bit Defender being the 1st).

The Internet security is very good and alerts you to everything, even when a .rar files is password protected a balloon pops up and informs you or if a site contains harmful files it will stop the connection to the site. I'm very pleased with it and it's worth the money IMO.

at both work and home i just use all of the following for performing cleanup routines:

    E-Trust AV
    CCleaner
    Spybot
    AdAware
    Hijack This
    BartPE/ReatogoXPE/ERDCommander
    Autostart Revealer

My cleanup/removal routines are mostly manual -- I dont use any active monitoring because I typically don't do stupid stuff on the internet. I do scans usually weekly, or whenever I feel that I may have done something stupid.

I prefer Avast antivirus. And it's free for commercial use.

He bought both. Short time after he went on-line, his comp was wrecked by a severe virus/hacker. Comp had to be rebuild.

A company around here also got it, and axed it completely after it failed to do what was promised.

I've had pretty much most anti viruses and Zonealarm and AVG are very good, and yes Norton sucks.

There is Norton Antivirus for Mac.
Apparently the rationale is we should run anti-virus just so we don't pass it on to Windows users.

And then I realized, what a scam.

In the years I've used computers (Windows) I had never gotten a virus. I had a few folks hack me, but that was more of my fault as I had open holes I knowingly didn't address (running outdated versions of Apache, not patching up holes BPFTP regards to user accounts). I think there must be a level of education on the users part to be able to use common sense and distinguish between a 'good' file and a 'bad' file.

I remember going through school I heard some of the stupidest answers in response to some very simple and basic questions. Surely those people cannot be alive; I thought natural selection was a well support theory!
