Yesterday, M. Leahy, Airbus commercial director said Airbus has sold an A-380, the biggest passenger jet in the world to a private. The plane will be fitted with a Hammam, a Gym, a pool and will be used as a private jet...

Mr Aage Duenhaupt at Lufthansa Technik, the German company wich makes the mods said three to five more orders to convert A-380s are on the way (...).

    Insane.

Cost : approx 320 Millions dollars for the plane and don't know how much for the conversion but could be up to 100 millions dollars...

Yeah, I read about this before. I don't know if it will really be private as in a single owner or if a private company will own it to charter out or possibly corporate jet. I know Boeing has a couple orders for the new 747-8 as private aircraft. The interior will be fitted by that Technik place as well since Boeing only delivers the aircraft green.

A buddy of mine transports race and show horses for a living. He's all over the world on a weekly basis. One of his clients (a Sheik) fly's two 747's. One for his family, and the other for his horses!!!!.

I saw a video (lifestyle like this) on youtube, the Sheik rides his horse, and his brothers followed him with 2 or 3 white Rolls Royce Phantoms.

People pay that much for mega-yachts. Expensive is always a relative term. :)

    Holy smokes!

That's just wretched excess! Would be nice to be able to drive a few of his cars right onto the plane and bring them with him wherever he goes.

There's only a handful of airports that can handle the A380. I wonder what happens when he wants to go somewhere exotic.

thats when you go with your smaller, faster and much more nimble gulfstream 550, which at 55 million, is a relative steal!!!!

You didn't hear about the switch that instantly replaces the wheel landing gear with aqua landing gear getting installed for an additional 100mm?

If I had the money to get a private plane, I sure as hell would. The money is no good to you when you die, so enjoy it in whatever way makes you happy. For me personally, the jet makes more sense than a giga-yacht.

It all depends on your intent with it imo. Private jets are only for transportation purposes to get from A to B, but in extreme comfort. You can't "cruise" around in them for weeks at a time. Only up to something like 14 hours. Of course the jet's destination is just an airport and I doubt you'd want to live in the plane at the airport during your stay. You'd probably have a house rented or a 5* hotel room.

For a yacht, you just cruise for weeks and go to the ports you want and drop anchor. Everything is already there. The only downside for traveling with a yacht is that you can't go inland with the yacht to places like Colorado, lol. :) Don't forget the toys you can have stowed away and used whenever you want unlike an airplane where you don't go para sailing off the back of it. ;)

If I had the money, I'd go for a smaller private jet for traveling to destinations inland and a yacht to cruise around the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Asia Pacific islands. :)

Sounds like Paradise to me. :)

Give me a Gulfstream G4 and one of those Wally yachts. That's only $100 million for both of them. What a bargin! :D:D:D

I remember hearing that the Google guys had bought a 747 and spruced up the interior for their corporate travels

For that much money he could have bought this and built the interior:

What limits jumbos from landing at smaller airports isnt the lenth of the runway its the width. 1 and 4 will hang over the edges.

Wow, I cant believe someone would have one of those as a private jet. What's it cost to fill something like that up?
