hey uncle, not playing drums today? you sound like a bear with a sore head!

agree with your point about the need for discretion save that any joe with the patience to trawl thru the thread with pencil and paper will have a fairly accurate idea of who drives what anyway.

i dont think we are particularly discreet ourselves about our rides when chatting here. the only saving grace i guess is that we dont use our real names but singapore being what it is, wont take a rocket scientist to find out if people really want to.

the point i will make to my brothers here is that when we chat here, unless we create fictitious personalities (like i understand some do), then there must be an implicit acceptance that, like it or not, we will lose some privacy.

anyhow, those are my thoughts. thanks for listening.

actually, according to many of you, i am already an ah pek based on my current rides. i didnt actually realise it myself until it was pointed out to me and i thot about it for a moment. sigh, old age does creep up on you.

lung, know anything about the 430 at autoinc? does it belong to someone here? was tempted until ben told me i would be the 3rd owner.

Personally, being the 3rd owner is not an issue (I am the 3rd owner of my car), what is more important is how well the car has been taken care off. If its a 1+ year old car..with good service history, no accident and average mileage i.e. under 10k km, I think its ok.

What time u want to go to the give deposit? I give u a ride ;)

Aiyo Lung. That's why I don't post pics of our faces on the web only cars.

Like politicians said no skeletons in the wardrobe. Anyway who's to know who IS eg me, Rara or KDK unless we have tea? & only among us unless we go abt sharing details or trawl these 500+ pages on a US, italian brand site which I think the men in white won't even bother.

It's all healthy fun here & we don't do drugs but a little arms ;)

& I don't just park but live in Geylang! Near city what :D

Hi guys, wow! the thread is now active with people I can relate too. Very good sign!

Des, what is wrong with your experience with the G? What is the point of having a supercar which is smooth, comfortable and works too well? You already have that AMG.

Mike, don't be influenced by him...:)

Lung, any CLS55 around, I may need to change real soon.

Jon, are you changing ride or colour?

rara, what are you doing with the computer on a sat night?

    Hi F-Chatters,

Haapen to pass by the asian thread, nice pictures posted here. Couldnt help but be rather amused about the happenings on this rather extensive thread.

But I do concur with some members of this board would rather not like, "the world" to know what they did or what they drove, me for instance.

I rather find it offensive behavior if my friend would take it upon himself to include my rides in a detailed list complied at that, something which could have been sent privately if indeed it was of help to others. No?

Plus the purpose of this list would seem like there is an attempt at "culling" those who have not "outed" themselves? Especially it would seem like this list is biased to the one who created it? So my understanding now is that if i do not know the list creator, I have to get out of his "house"? The contradictory statements made by the aforementioned individual confuses me at times.

If F-chat administrator or moderators would start culling members who decide to remain in confidence, this board would empty out pretty quick. No?

Plus it would be hawkish behavior to demand anyone new members to "intro" themselves so that the regulars would know who the new person is? As gentlemen, we wouldnt expect a lady to strip on the first date and show us weather her assets are real isnt it?

Privacy is something that ought to be respected, afterall this is a forum that is open to the world. For everyone that posts, there are tens of thousands more that lurk. For people like most of us, we have children and family that have that right to that kind of privacy and protection. We should not be complacent about security especially in this world we live in. One reason why us americans would panic should our social security numbers get stolen.

Going by the not so few pages i browsed through, I can see this is a rather balanced forum, not unlike some other that I frequently visit. So for those who are quick to press the panic button, one time too many it seems ,its best to ease up a little and learn to read between the lines, everyone in the cyberworld is and should be entitled to their views, thats what forums are all about. Preferences should be respected. If any of us members would like to showcase our rides, the profile page and vgarage is there for a purpose.

Forums are not just places to share consensus but places to have a lively debate, even animated debates within the bounds of decency, plus still maintain some privacy so long as statements made are fair and allegations made can be supported.

At the end of the day, there is no right nor wrong weather a person chooses to reveal his identity, unless it bugs out any particular individual who prides himself or themselves of "being in the know" always. For cases like these, I believe the issue does not like in this forum and should be resolved by the individuals or groups involved.

We are all used to services, it doesnt mean we pay for a club membership, we have to stay there 24/7 so as to get our pennies worth..... no? ;)

Lastly, intelligence need not be proven. Not by data collection methods at least ;)

    Have a good weekend folks!
