I'm looking at a very nice 1995 456 6 speed to purchace. The engine is quiet, smoke free and a perfect runner. Everything works fine and windows seal correctly. I did notice a couple of things which I'm hoping some owners/experts can share some advice on.

    1. Biggest issue is a very bad creak/sqeak from the front end during braking. I'm assuming control arm bushings, or shock mounts. It sounded like it was almost inside the cabin, so maybe upper control arms, upper shock mount?? This is really unacceptable and the only thing that would have to be repaired immediately.

    2. Passenger seat doesn't go back as far as drivers. Normal?

    3. The rear suspension bottomed several times during testing. Didn't seem right.

    4. The headliner is coming down along the sides.

    5. The steering column is sticky like it melted or something.

    6. At speed the oil pressure reading was 110 psi. Ok?

    Thanks in advance to all.

    1. Possibly motor mounts as well. A good shop should be able to tell you.

    2. Not normal, at least not in any 456 I've seen. Could it have been modded to make the driver's seat go back further than normal?

    3. That is not right, unless you were off road ;-)

    4. Not good.

    5. That is normal, unfortunately.

    6. I don't know off the top of my head.

You have not mentioned the mileage on that car, but from what you describe I would guess it could be quite high, possibly higher than it shows.
It would also seem that the car might have not been cared for properly.
Engine mounts and shocks are expensive items, but if they are not looked after they generate other problems.
I would be very careful with that car.
