had a look at the car today looked really nice - would have said hello but no one was around at the time Very nice of Jim to spend the time talking to talk to me and the thousand others - top guy but for me this was the star and will be my next car Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have photos of the Vector, albeit a bit wet. Will be posting them later in another separate thread. Was a great day, and meeting Jim and Sal and the P4/5 was great. Its hard to believe how someone can find the time to spend with so many people.
Sounds like several of you are here also. I still haven't managed to meet up with anyone though this week. I may end up wearing my f-chat badge and lanyard tomorrow to see if that helps anybody spot me. I think we're planning on being there around 7, heading up to the top of the hill to get some additional photos from different angles, checking out the rally stage course, and then coming back down to wander the paddocks again before heading into the Kinrara Enclosure to watch the rest of the racers tackle the hill. We'll also be in the winner's area after the event has concluded. If anybody spots me and wants to say hi, please do. My uploads have been slow, but Autoblog finally posted my initial dispatch about the ball at the Goodwood House on Thursday night. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/23/2007-goodwood-festival-of-speed-the-ball-and-unveiling/
Sorry Frank, would have liked to have met you today. I think the tabbard idea is a good one. I wont be there tomorrow, damn work commitments, and on a Sunday too I hope you enjoy your stay at this glorious event.

Hear are my pics. Think the rain got in the camera lens towards the end Was rather glad I elected to use the TT rather than the Daytona to drive down. Loved the P4/5 Jim. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=11693&l=403d4&id=596135148 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=11694&l=02cb9&id=596135148
Paul/R33 - XJ13 I seem to recall, saw this at the FOS many years ago. It's a gorgeous looking car. Great photos - thanks for sharing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks. Yep, i believe its only recently been fully restored. Its a beautiful looking car with great lines.
The XJ-13, unique car. Destroyed while testing for Le Mans. Restored recently at Jaguar. Beautiful car. A handful of exact replicas made by Lynx and Proteus have been made in UK.
Gorgeous photos everybody. What was supposed to be a final day of touring the grounds to meet more people and take more stills, ended up being limited to a grandstand seat watching the rain and racers. I missed out on so many things I had wanted to do and see. This was an absolutely incredible event and I am so glad I was priveleged enough to get invited to cover it. I'll definitely try to get back again next year.
The first part of the photos I took today, which contains cars on display and on stands. Including the SLR Roadster, LP640 Roadster, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Enzo etc... They havent turned out too bad, as usually the lightls plays havoc with camera's results, so im quite happy. The day was really good, but it rained almost non-stop, which is a bit of a downer. So you get a bit cold, wet and very muddy. But I still enjoyed it. Saw a few famous people and well known cars, including the guy from Star Trek and one of the Rolling Stones (will post their names when I can remember them, my mind has gone blank). Also saw a few other nice cars, including a Blue AMV8 Roadster (wasnt that nice colour) and a Black 997 Turbo on the A23 with all Black wheels (nice...). Part 2 will be the photos of even more supercars on the track (in the Wet), which I will explain in another thread, but was quite good to see! Some examples attatched below, 35 higher res images at the link below! http://funmeter.zenfolio.com/p172659653/ Some thoughts about cars - The Superleggera was incredible, it looked stunning and the inside looked excellent too. Had just your basics and looked like it would be fun to drive, as well as very robustly made. Balloon White colour on the Lambo's is just excellent, espcially with Grey Callisto wheels. The SLR Roadster just showed off a hude amount of quality and looks much better in person. Its an improvement over the normal SLR, and looks like things have been incorperated from the SLR 722 (carbon dash, proper paddles etc...). And as usual, the general quality (espcially the leather) was a high standard, but you'd expect that for £350,000+. Although I think Mercedes & McLaren should have developed a hard top convertible like the SL range, as the material version looks cheap and will be impractical in the slightly long term I think. And the car still looks that bit difficult to get in and out of, like the SLR was, due to the quite higher door sills (ledges more like) and lower driving position. Enjoy! Here is Part 2 (of 3) of my photos from yesterday. This includes most of the Sunday Times In Gear Supercar group going up the hill, and as usual, I filtered through and have put what I think where the best out of what I took on to my site. It was raining lightly at the beginning of the run, and as you might see in the photos, began to get worse. Some of the cars took it easy, although the LP640, Superleggera, 997 GT3 RS, Prodrive AMV8, 997 Turbo and the Veyron still decided to put their foot down as much as they could considering the conditions. The 997 GT3 RS didnt seem to be affected by the Wet, and gave it some up the hill. The Veyron misjudged the corner slightly and took a bit of mud with it (have got a zoomed out picture I can post up later). And the 997 Turbo stopped and then gave a quick wheel spin. Which you can see in my photos due to the balance of the car pitching forwards, then backwards. 48 images at the link below - http://funmeter.zenfolio.com/p160208622/ And some low-res versions attatched. Glad to see your posts, Frank... Good pics by EVERYBODY! Thanks for all the links.....send a search party out for tonyh I think he signed up and went On Tour with Mr G. or something....
Jim, May i first congratulate you on an absolutely stunning car and a great pleasure to view it in the flesh so to speak I've always meant to pose this question, do the FOS organisers invite certain vehicles to appear? and if so, who picks up the tab? as i would imagine air freighting the P4/5 to the UK isn't an insignificant amount?
