I have always been on the joketive side, but coming by today, I realize with horror at the situation that has transpired over the past few days in this forum.

Here are my take on things, I stand by Dave on this matter, I wouldn’t blame him for coming in with guns blazing initially, after all call 911 and scream into the phone you have an armed assailant in the house, you will get a visit from the tactical squad and not a knock by your friendly neighborhood police. What horrifies me is whomever made completely unfounded allegations about stalking?? Threatening posts??

I have not seen yet any one post as far as memory serves me, that has been either off. What would people who have never visited Singapore think of our country if they have never visited us before? Would we be compared to Iraq or some lawless society that they read in their morning newspapers? What kind of impressions would they get from reading about these allegations? Are we a barbaric society they must think, where cyber stalking or real life stalking, threats and all the social ills occur frequently?

I believe what has transpired here is someone has made very strong allegations to the moderator board spurring them to come in with guns blazing and subsequently spooking everyone out. Take for example, Avantguard , Douglas and me we have not posted for some time, but have been forced to post so that they wouldn’t be “deleted” from the forums. I am sure that later on, most of the members , lurkers and passive posters here like me would come to resent that we were forced into giving up our privacy, or made to make posts just to ensure relevancy, weather we chose to do it or not.

I too am sure that if anyone for the matter who has looked back over the pages that no personal attacks have been made especially since Vik came in as the new moderator. If debates and differing opinions were made out to be “personal” attacks then this forum is clearly not a suitable place for the complainant.

I am also taken aback by the liberties taken by individuals who list what everyone drives. This is truly a breach of trust, if there are truly stalkers here, hasn’t the said individual’s actions compounded the problem by making it so easy for bad elements to just print out the copy of the list? I am so relieved that I am not part of the list. Singapore is such a small country with an even smaller population of sports marques, it wouldn’t be too difficult to locate everyone now. The list of the cars and attribution posts should be removed by the moderators asap…PLEASE. As it is truly irresponsible and irreprehensible behavior.

I would recommend that the moderators pay more attention to some of the content posted here recently which come from external sources with no proper attributions made. Pictures leeched from other websites and articles copied wholesale are more pressing problems for a site owner and would affect the credibility of this forum should other web owners learn about it.

But on another point, I believe Rob would be able to shed some light on the root of all these simmering grievances, surely the last election thread for moderator of this forum is still fresh in everyone’s mind. Looks like wherever you go there are politics abound. Roots of it all could simply be just a ploy at consolidation of power into an individual’s hand ;) prepping for the next election… mister complainant?

bro, there is "living a little" and there is "perverse".

i accept that my previous alfas will act true to form and "die" occasionally; i accept that my previous 355 will throw a tantrum now and then; i cannot accept a 800k car bucking like a bronco at low gears and then justifying it as "character".

i admit that i have only driven two specimens (rara's and leslie's) and been driven in another (jon's) but my experiences have not been positive. i also admit that the newer versions seem to have sorted this out but i am not in the market for a brand new car so that's that.

don't mean to criticise those of you who love your g's (so don't rush to flame me!) but i guess that's why there are different marques out there.

I don't understand the criticism? Its a "one man's meat" situation. Its the same for me as far as Porsches are concerned. Alot of people swear by, live by and die by their Porsches. For me? other than the GT3, the other models don't excite me at all. They don't have a soul (I know how you hate this word). Maybe its becoz they are predictable, efficient and reliable.

But I did tell the sale staff that I will own one before I die :)

that's another thing. some of you seem to think that "predictable, efficient and reliable" are bad words; that such traits equal a lack of soul, and a lack of soul equals boring.

as someone who used to own alfas and pay half of the bonuses of the staff at city motors, a "predictable, efficient and reliable" yet great looking car is like the holy grail!

    vive la difference, i guess.

For those who are unfamiliar to this colourful thread, you have to read some old & new posts including mine with a little doubt.

Or just ignore them all together.

Sometimes even I wondered who's who so the list of names=cars I created are those genuine chatters we've met & for those who would like to remain anonymous you're more than welcomed to our gatherings. Just PM Tiong etc

As we matured chatters know there's no rubbish politics here or striptease, so newbies please feel free to intro yourself like any friendly gatherings. It doesn't matter if you don't have an exotic, we all need to aspire & one day your dream will come true :)

Mate, you speak like our Harold here :D

Congrats on your first Ferrari. You make me green ;) I want a yellow Fcar!

Good choice on the 6speed, you won't go wrong with that. Workshop told me that there's only 4 coupes & 2 spiders & probably none exported. This is a keeper, they are very reliable & easier to maintain. Has it got any tubis or after market rims? What's the interior?

My car used to have a #29 plate as well.

Would you be free to join us for the morning drive?

Oh before you do any highspeed drive/revs please grill Sam & ask that they update the belt tensioners? etc with evidences. There was an update on this small but important part & affected all 360s prior to 2002. There are quite a few threads on this, search under 360/430, they can cause blown engine if not updated. It's a small & inexpensive part to update which will involve a belt job but highly important. I ever asked them on this but they would only say that all campaigns are updated, a vague answer to me.

thks mate, good info. will check with Sam. yeah, its got Tubi exos and Hamann rims(my favourite aftermkt supplier)...unfortuantely, me stupidly kerb the front left rim, now trying to repair it. the paintwork is also not great, need to go for a paintjob soon, thus reading with interest the thread concerning changing the colour of the 997(???). contemplating changing colour to my all time fav titanium grey. the car is stock standard otherwise.

agreed...manual, easy and cheaper to maintain.

where would be the sunday meet point be and what time?? if not convenient to reveal here, pls pm me.
