Is the word "testarossa" supposed to be (i.e., did the car come from the factory with it) marked on the black part of the 512tr engine decklid? I ask because I've seen a lot of pictures of 512tr's that don't have it; but in person and in photos I have also seen the word "testarossa" marked there.
I think that the very early 512TRs did have "Testarossa" on the back edge of the engine deck lid. This question has come up before, so somebody will certainly pop in and clarify this for you.
model year 1992 had the "testarossa" badge on the matt black engine deck lid. it looked quite odd. saw three that year (crown ferrari/tampa bay, FL. continental autosports/hinsdale, IL. lake forest sportscars/lake forest, IL) kind regards, joseph
OK - I will Here's a pic taken from the original catalogue Ferrari were keen at first to emphasise the Tesstarossa styling theme and roots of the new car. Later they seemed to emphasise that "It was really a new car" "More F40 than Testarossa" Anyway with 80 or 90% of the parts being different including a new gearbox etc, very much stiffer chassis, huge brakes and much more grunt i suggest the phrase "Testarossa on Steroids" sums it up The only other place I have seen the word Testarossa in print or parts is on the inlet manifold castings Hope the pics come up Martin
In the 512 TR, Testarossa is also present on the Vin Number plate above the steering column... Here is a pisture of mine... Image Unavailable, Please Login
