    Hi all,

I've been lurking here for a while researching and learning. I've always loved the 348 and I'm ready to pull the trigger for the right car.

I've run across the car below. From all the info I've recieved from the dealer and research from this site, this car seems to be legit and very nice.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-1994-Ferrari-348-Factory-Challenge-1-of-32-Excellent_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6212QQihZ014QQitemZ330135623971QQrdZ1

Since many of you on here are Ferrari owners and have gone through the experience of buying your "1st" Ferrari, I pose two quesitons to you.

    1) How does this car look to you (nice/rough/etc)? What is your opinion of this particular car? Does anyone have first hand knowledge about this particular car?

    2) What would you consider to be a fair price for this car?

    THANKS FOR THE HELP !!

    Jared

I cant comment that much on the car, I dont own a 348.

But Ron Tonkin is supposed to be a very highly reputable company. I seem to recall reading somewhere that they were one of the first (the first) ferrari franchise in the US. I've never been there and not a customer, but I think they have a great reputation.

Maybe someone from the NW can say.

The car does look very clean. The most important is its service history. If service is up to date and the major service has been done, and if the PPI checks out then I think it should be at around $55K + ($60K being on the higher end).

Jared, looks like a really nice 348. You should give it serious consideration.
You can buy with confidence from Tonkin, they have been in business for a long time offering cars like this one on a regular basis. I also believe a fair price to be around $55K-$60K. Good luck with your search.

#24 of 32. #'s did not follow chronology of s/n. Never had challenge kit installed. Presumably never raced.

Dealer has a good rep on this site. I think they are the oldest continously operating dealer in the US. Not the first.

Car looks great. It's a real factory challenge. Do a search on this site for differences from regular 348. Only 32 tb's were made and imported to the US in '94. Check out www.redfcar.com

I would guess based on the milage and lack of race history you're looking at $55 to low $60's regardless of service history.

Dealer was very nice and professional but they won't go below $69k. I just feel that is too much. My search continues.

    Thanks for the help!

69K is too much for that car, even though it looks great

You'd better get on it! Only less than two hours to go it's at $47K, hit it a few times and find the reserve......

Ron Tonkin's one of the oldest dealers in US, not that the fact effects this car..........

He knows what he has here, he's no corner car lot in St Louis somewhere.......

    Hey Jared,
Don't know the entire car story but RT dealership is a very reputable. On the sour side I hear his prices can be high and not budge too much. Ron himself has quite the F-car collection. Take a look at the car on his Ron Tonkin GT site... www.rtgt.com and there is a CARFAX link you can click on to see the owner history and guarantee checklist.

    Ciao'

It would be nice if that included the challenge kit!

It was bought from F of Dallas in '98 for $79,500 with 15,050 miles if that matters.

Another thread is chatting about collectability of 348/355. If there is a 348 with collectible value it would be a 348 challenge. Not biased because I own one, but the 348 factory challenge (45 in all) is more rare than a 360 CS or a 355 Fiorano.

there was one for sale at cammisa.net, it is still on their web page. No records, but a real challenge, car looked in great condtion. Definitely needs a major. Dealer asking 59K, got him down to 57k but decided to go for a cheaper 348 in the end.

car still shows up on their web page. If it is still there, they've had it since march/april

I think that one was discussed here before. That's about going rate for a real challenge IMO.

I live in the Bay Area, so I'm going to check this one out on Saturday. I've really had my heart set on a tb but I'll give this one a look.

    Thanks,

Asking $59k, I bet you could get it for $55k, and that would be a great deal!

Follow your heart. It will make the driving experience much, much better. If you find something as stimulating, great.

I own a 348 Challenge 18 of 32. This one looks great but the price is steep. Max would be 60K with the challenge kit.

I'm thinking they might have this car for some time..., but then maybe that's the idea. ;)

I'm all for Challenges as collectable 348's, but a SS will cost much less and has similar collectability. The issue with Challenge cars is that you could end up with one that was seriously abused on the track and primped for resale. BTW, for a bit more money you have ourself a real collectable 348 and import (and Federalize) a 348 GTB Competizione. I swear I'm going to do this one day!!!
