I was wondering if it was possible to get one of these to put on a civilian (in my case) bushmaster AR15.

I have no idea where to start.

    Some discussion on another forum.

I followed the site mentioned in the thread and found this. Edit: There appears to be legal issues surrounding the real 416 uppers, as they were accidentally leaked to the public. http://www.subguns.com/boards/mgmsgarchive.cgi?noframes;read=486235

  5. More Type 07 FFL holders (commonly referred to as class3 dealers) are starting to realize they can buy post sample 416's and sell the uppers seperate online. There seems to be alot more of them popping up lately, but the price is still in the $4000-$5000 range. I would expect over the next year they price on these will lower as availability increases. Check sites like sturmgewehr.com or subguns.com as they commonly pop up there.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of the quasi-legality of the upper.

I thought it was like most uppers (that have the minimum barrel length) in its legal status.

I also wasn't aware of the excessive cost! Hopefully the prices will drop.

I guess I will go back to hunting a Navy style trigger for my G3 clone then! :D

If you simply want one of the best gas piston uppers you can get, try LWRC. I'm awaiting them to release their .308 model now. Based on all the research I have done, and feedback from people who have owned them, they are one of the best AR units you can lay your hands on right now.
