How many 348's & 355's were built? (am curious)

As far as NSX's go, from 1990 to 2005
(9,551) were shipped to the U.S, , (18,511) were built world wide.

Am glad to see this turned into an informative thread.
Most NSX owners are real enthusiasts who love to drive.
Very few NSX's are used as daily transportation.
More so than "F" cars, but most save them for nice days.
Many NSX owners track their cars. Tino (bboxer) was the prev. owner of my NSX.
As I recall he has owned (8) F cars, as well as a couple NSX's and now has a G.
Real car enthusiasts can see the value in special cars, regardless who its made by.

"If you want to buy a Ferrari for the attention, buy an NSX. "

Thats 100% WRONG. Most NSX owners like driving / going around corners/ and could care less what
anyone thinks. 99% of the population has no idea what an NSX is, and 99% of NSX owners could care less. Its not a car you buy to impress others with. Its a car you buy to thrill yourself by driving.
Most of us do not have the skill to drive these cars at their potential. The fun is in trying.

I knew it, this is your day job.

Rarity. Brand heritage. Italian looks. Reputation for being temperamental and expensive. And a burning curiosity about what kind of wild romantic would buy/drive something like that.

It's exactly this "everyday driver" trait, as well as being co-branded with Integras, Legends and some pretty mundane cars, that takes the NSX out of the 348's category.

When I think 'exotic', I think Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati and Lotus. Car enthusiasts get whiplash checking out these cars when they go by. Your "I would never sell my F-car to do it" sums it up. Different philosophy, different priorities, different minds set to making them. Only Italy could make something like a TR, 348, 328, etc. Rationality was an afterthought.

We're way off track from the OP, where the NSX was the more sensible recommendation, but for $30K down you don't want to play in the exotic car market unless you're a serious mechanic/restorer.

I guess the whole thing can be compared to realestate.

Some guys will do anything they possibly can to live on a particular street. That knockdown with leaky plumbing, a rotting roof and termites can provide someone who is willing to put up with a few "querks", and some "temperments", a worthwhile home for a very long time if they want the address.

    ;)

I can't believe this thread is still alive.

    OMG!!!

Can we just say that the NSX is a great car.

The 348 is a great car.

The 355 is a great car.

    For the original poster...

You know what the facts are about maintaining an F-car compared to an NSX. That is the biggest difference. Any other difference could be considered personal preference. Drive all three and decide.

NSXs suck, and when they do break, which can be frequently, it is Ferrari-type expensive. So just get the Ferrari and be done with it! lol. God I hate those expensive Preludes.

Sorry man. I've been a lurker for a while since I'm considering taking the 348 or 355 plunge. I'll keep my trap shut though.

05011994 got it right- his advice is dead on and the NSX is a great car for the budget and you can always get the Ferrari later. I am glad I owned my NSX for 3 years but having owned Fcars I don't think I would ever go back. Good luck whichever way you go.

    Hahahahahahaaaaaa LOL :p!!!! A perfect post response by our very own 285ferrari ;) :D :D :D
 That is right!!! This post was illegtimately brought back by an unsuspecting new guy, who now knows the error of his ways, right Mr. Mustang5.0??? ;)

So in order to atone for his misdeed....... he must start a new thread with ten reasons why he digs the 348 and 355......... Then we get to razz him for bringing this thread back!!!

So as of midnight pacific standard time, this thread will officially close (and hopefully self-destruct) for any future posts :D :D :D

Corvette beats the NSX. Modded supra beats the Corvette. RF beats them all. There is no 348 Ferrari killer. They are bulletproof.
