'nicoles ice' can most likely be attributed simply to it being a bloody cold morning.

but as far as climate change goes, global warming will bring about more temperature extremes (lower lows, higher highs) but the overall trend is up.

so ironically global warming will result in the odd freak snow season

can someone explain why people put photos of children on the internet........given the propensity for child porn sites one would think why give them any more ammo.

It was a cold morning, but I have been here my entire life and have never seen nor heard of this before. I talked to a few 'older' people here today and they never seen it happen before either. It has gotten down here to -1C many times before during winter and usually hangs around the 0C-4C. :):)
Got me f*cked why it happened? :):)

    Heya man. :)
Word on the street is that miner on the surface open cut "Blackstar", had his drill rig fall into a hole, because the ground fell out from underneath it. The only thing that saved him was the booms of the drill rig jammed into the otherside of the hole, which stopped him from falling into the void underneath. They are not sure how deep the void is underneath. The "Blackstar" open cut has alot of bad ground and there was an iccident 6 months ago where a BIG excavator fell into a similar hole and was lucky to have the boom 'catch' before it went down the hole.
No one has been killed yet, but it will only be a matter of time they reckon. :(

Ah, just by looking at the big piece of flywheel on the left hand side, I can see a different colour on that edge. Kinda looks like it was cracked and finally let go? Do you know what went through the bonnet? Kinda hard for gearbox/clutch parts to find their way all the way up there I would have thought. :)

not really... the 348 has a transverse gearbox doesn't it? not sure but which was does this mean the flywheel faces?

a few years back i heard from a bloke in the UK who had a hand in the Faran X1/9 project (a turbo race version) about some guy who'd lightened his flywheel but it must have been unbalanced or something, i can't recall it verbatim but basically they were running it on the dyno or something, they took it up to like 7k rpm and it was if the engine exploded.

well, the flywheel went like the disk thing from Krull straight into the atmosphere, but could have just as easily flung into the cabin (through the petrol tank)

tut tut , you really need to keep up on Ferrari models Ash, the 348 was the first NS engine in V8 config, pap is safe as houses

and it's the pax who will die if the flywheel lets go in a 308/328 (or he driver in LHD)

tut tut JM. The "T" in 348TS stands for transversale. The engine is north-south but the gearbox east-west. This config was of course pioneered on the 312T F1 cars.

Ferrari flywheels don't let go because they're machined from a steel billet, unlike the cast items used in most cars. The clutches will let go however if a non-original pressure plate is used.

Tut Tut, Ian - The tranmission may be transversale, but the engine is directionale, therefore the flywheel, if it lets go, will spear out through the side of the vehicle, not into the cockpit, like a 308.
    Which I think was Moderetti's point ;)
