Mark, I will be sending you a check for $100,000.00 from my company in Nigeria to cover the cost of my entry fee. If you would deposit that check in your US bank and send me the difference in US funds I would be most happy to participate in your venture.
All I did is tell you why I put together FBR and said the Navigators guy probably had best intentions originally... you guys are an angry bunch of people. Frankly the ferrari owners I know dont act this way- they are usually very inviting and nice. What do I think of prancy horsey cars? well like all cars- I like them. I'm impressed with Ferraris branding ability. For "posters" who like to hide behind screen names... any one of you are more than welcome to call our office and talk to me directly... or meet us in person... but I doubt the weak haters would dare do such a thing- especially when its so much easier to lob punches virtually with no human interaction. If any of you haters could get off your prancy horsey and just be nice... we are- I dont think my long winded comments were hurtful to anyone- you attacked me. I enjoy cars- I respect everyones tastes even if they are not my own... hell someones gotta love the KIA.
Actually, I have yet to meet a a F car owner who is an asshat. But, you have to realize, your posting in a thread about a scammed road rally, that appeared to be one from the beginning. Why you'd expect anything less.. i dono. For me, I'm not interested in such road rallies... I prefer driving roads I know, or friends of mine know.
I CALLED IT! The organizer of this event is a true asshat. He thought it would be easy money - get 100 cars to show up (and no doubt he felt that would be the easy part), charge $4k a pop, spend half of it and keep the rest. Hopefully the guy gets sued - I bet he will. It's NOT OK to have an idea, get other people to take a risk that you do not disclose as a risk, then have it blow up in your face and leave everyone else to take the fall while leaving everyone high and dry. The guy did NOT have good intentions. If he did, he could have set up an escrow account or kept folks involved as time progressed and given lists of hotel reservations, and made refunds available to anyone who wants, etc. The guy had BAD intentions. If everything worked out he was going to have a great result, if it did not work out, he never intended to pay the price or atone for the risk he took on others' behalf. He deserves every problem he has and he gets.
Good websites do not mean they are legit. Nor bad ones the opposite. As for this run and all, I am not sure why this one like others disintegrated but the people putting together runs may think it is a good idea. For some intentions may be pure, but by poor management or other unforseen holdups by overzealous yet underqualified folks cause major problems to the community as a whole. Little Billy may want in the game and think he knows how to play, but he can't actually swing the bat so for the good of the 'team' he should be benched. I'd actually be curious to hear from someone what it is like to do a real run/rally. Now I must say that there are no real 'rallies' here in the states as far as I can see. I automatically think rally and the WRC, maybe I am jaded with the Monte Carlo Rallye back in January, but I hate people to take titles because they sound cool and drag down the value. You must be new around here... lol
Well, since I don't have the balls to read through this whole mess I will go and play these in the rare "generalized attack method." By that the reader can best decide who they should be against and why as opposed to my telling you who they are played upon. (However, I personally think that our new "friend" (scam artist) fireball may be the leading candidate....) +1 Why didnt you start your own thread inviting everyone to your rally? You jumped in a gunfight with a knife.
No, we're not angry, we're sceptical. Based on the Navigator's Fiasco, can oyu blame us? um, aren't you using a screen name here? Well sure, I'll drive right over, let's see you're where exactly? I'm near Philly, I don't think it's a quick commute, and, I'm not interested in a $7K rally If you roll in here and lob in a grenade, then post long winded attacks on us, sure, we're gonna be the most friendly folks in the world, er, NOT REALLY Gonna have a bunch of KIA owners in the fireball??? I really wanted to run my Skoda, can I play? Perhaps I should fire up my Yugo, or even better, my classic '77 Ford Pinto. Truth is, the guys here are careful. You swim in to a thread about a scam, and post that your's isn't a scam and would we all like to come and pay $7K to drive around a while. Pardon us for not all rolling over and saying, "Here's the money, thanks for the invitation." I think now might be a good time for you to roll on out of here. DM
I'm not accusing you of anything here - just making a general statement. But anyone who watched Dateline NBC where they went head-to-head with the Nigerian scammers, those scammers had NO trouble meeting 'face-to-face' in order to get money. Talking to a real person or meeting them in person doesn't = legit or genuine. Shall I point you to the Aaron White thread that spanned numerous forums?
Of course I haven't. Not by a long shot. There are somewhere between 500 and 700 Ferraris in Michigan, and I've only taken photos of maybe 80-90 of them. So far, not an asshat in greeting among them which I've spoken with, become friends with, or been introduced to.
Sadly the only way to prove that is to have it happen and then see what DOES happen. Same with the Navigator's Run, I am sure you would say the same thing "its real, my buddy is in it" as a lot of people did. Then when the time came......
Fireball? How about a strap-on flamethrower? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anyone who puts a rally together for the money is an idiot... We are working very hard to make people comfortable; by meeting with area Chamber of Commerces & Mayors. Having a cancellation insurance policy- and our rule has always been "hands off the player money". Fireball Run is supported by its sponsors. As far s the "other" run - the only comparison is that we both use the word "run" in our name... heck just google "fireball run" we have many press releases "real ones" and great support from a number of reputable organizations and media I love cars- I (generally) like people... and while I am very good friends with Brock Yates, I still see the guy as a hero and am in awe of his history. Unlike all the other events that currently take place my goal was to have Fireball Run be as close to the vibe of "The Cannonball Run" movie as possible; that is light hearted competitiveness and lots of camaraderie. I'm gonna ask you guys to be nice "please" its hard enough to do this with all the recent difficulties. We didnt come here to irritate people- we signed up with your forum to make new friends... the rally is an invitational anyways. And anyone here can bash us and make fun of us for making it invitational- but we did it because we wanted to be certain the players would all get along and that we didnt have dangerous or even arrogant people in the event. The rally is about good karma. I'm personaly not an arrogant person- anyone who has "personally" spoken to me or met me will tell you I'm a fun guy and a nice guy. I am also the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce... by even doing this rally... i have placed my elected position at risk... but I just want people to have fun and for just a moment leave their titles behind and "pretend" to be whatever character you want. If you'd like to chat with me directly I am always on line and my AIM screen name is "FireballRun".
You have a funny way of showing it. I find it hard to believe that you are over 25 to be honest. Seriously, based upon how you write, I cant see any business taking you seriously, esp if they ever read anything from you. How you present yourself in a written medium is just as important as how you do in real life, and you on a computer look like a 5 year old. So I would tell you to go back and finish high school, study English, quit smoking pot, and reach your potential!!! You have to remember that 95% of the people that own these items got them by being very very smart and making a lot of money. We are not push overs or dummies that some people would have you believe. But you could prove us all wrong by showing us your insurance bond and your incorporation documents, all of which are public record and would have to be given to any sponsor. If you cant or don't, well.... you're just not for real. (But we knew that right?)
Sorry J.R. but you generalise far too often. You can not determine who fireball run is just by his grammar, for instance claiming he is a scam artist and a kid at high school who smokes pot, thats bang out of order and totally uncalled for. Both you and I know there are plenty of forum users here who have extreme self made wealth and intelligence behind them however their grammar sucks. I think that everyone should just calm it and see what happens rather than run the risk of ruining what could be a great event. It is understood that the Navigators Run fell apart and people lost out however that doesnt give us the right to slate every man and his dog if they propose to organise something similar. I dont mean to argue with you, just point out that you may be wrong as you have been in the past, yet rarely i must admit. People feed off you unfortunately and that can cause more harm than good on occasion. regards, Matthew
MMouse. No harm in asking him to post a copy of his insurance bond, is there? Sure would go a long way towards proving us wrong, and might even encourage a few folks here to pony up and go for the drive. In fact, it's a damn good idea, shows he's serious and taking a businesslike approach to this. I've been involved in a couple of two day rallies in the past. First thing we did was find a big time rally sponsor, talk to them about how to do it, got them to join in the sponsorship, and let them help us plan the route, etc. Their first requirement was insurance on the event. Covered ( as I recall) sponsors, participants and any place the rally stopped that was private property against liability from just about any cause you could think of. Each participant was required to show proof of insurance on their vehicle, too. We also had serious car guys involved who had done rallies before and owned car related businesses. I don't see any of that being demonstrated here, and it sure would make this look more legitimate. So, fireball, wadda ya say? DM
Mathew, I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. Look at it this way, if you were coming to FChat to promote a big event as Fireball says he is, would you not at least spell check? Or proof read? That he came to a written medium to promote what he says is a serious $500,000 or more rally and posted the way he did is extremely telling. I can't think that anyone with a lick of sense would even expect to be taken seriously posting like that. (And he kept it up even when called on it.) And that leads me to the conclusion that he is either very young, very uneducated, very inexperienced in business, or all three.
Hey, WAIT A MINUTE!!! This is supposed to be a thread where we pound the NAV run and FIREBUTT guys, not each other. Ok, MM and DrS, kiss and make up... Well, maybe just sing Kumbaya??? Ok, never mind. DM
I do see your point J.R, anyway we're not bickering are we sunshine? Heres a big smacker from me regardless Image Unavailable, Please Login
