HEY! I love the picture showing the Hill Engineering bearing and our Ricambi invoice! The Hill bearing is indeed, a worthy upgrade.

Decent price. Seems like a very clean car. I think that is a very appropriate mileage for a 10 year old car. If you love it, have it checked out and go for it. If not, other cheap cars come along. I know of a lot of cheap 355's out there right now and they are really on the way down. They are still a modern Ferrari which has to compete with other newer performance cars in the $50-80k price range which is booming. I still want one.

49,000 miles is "a ton of miles"? Oh snap, time to dump my Spider & buy a new Kia!

    From the ad:
"In case you are not aware, the later cars from 1997 on are the better buys with all the valve updates and corrections. Early 355's (1995-1996) are known to have a lot of issues, and that is why I looked at a 1997. This one is problem free. "

    Hmmmmm..............

Well, it has gone 50K without them or they were replaced early, before this owner.

Not to start the fact vs. myth arguement on the valves again, but hmmm..........

And NO mention of the headers.

    From the ad:
"My name is Steve and I own and operate Momentum Autosport, a California licensed and bonded dealership specializing"

    Dealer car, more hmmmmmm......................

Get a PPI, or better yet, get a PPI.

    It is pretty.

This looks like a good 355 to have a lot of fun with. If it has been well-maintained and it has no issues, this would probably be a better car to own and drive than a 10-15k mile car.

The price is seemengly attractive, but I am sure you can find similar cars for the same price. Wholesale or trade-in on this car would only be about $50-55k at most.

Maybe I'm reading something wrong, but the cam belts were last replaced 19 thousand miles ago at 30K????? That last service was not an engine out? Thats alot of miles on a 355. At least we now they will go that far.

+1 It is very hard to believe some cars wear so much without much use. Like even this 12k mile fiorano bolster (pic below) that looks extremely worn. I still have suspicions unless the condition of the car matches (like 285's) , some of the "low mile" cars had to have odometer disconnects. I mean I have seen some 355's look worse than my 100k + mile VW!!! Then they claim "it only has 15k miles"..... yeah right!

Why would anyone do it?? This nice ebay 355 is a good example... visual condition looks very good, BUT it has a "ton" of miles and the price drops by $10k at least. Also there are those who would never even consider a well cared for and sorted car purely because of "miles".

BTW my 993TT had almost 100k miles and the "entire" interior (bolster included) was many "tons" better than the 12k fiorano's bolster pic below :(

Yes, this is a sore spot for me because I love "driving" and caring for my cars.....and less tooting about how I "don't" drive it....... ;) :)

Below is the fiorano 12k mile pic with the sad bolster:
And below that is my 355 with 37k miles:
And below mine is the almost 50k mile 355 of which this post is about:

Of course, the center console needs some work, and you can see some stickies on the passenger door handle, but if it's mechanically good, and you're not afraid to put some elbow grease into fixing up the stickies, looks like a VERY nice driver.

I'd been looking for a blue/tan for a while, but eventually settled on red/tan, and my heart sank when I saw this one this morning, but this one's not for me. Someone grab it and enjoy it to the fullest!

Sometimes it may be the pictures being misleading.

The 1999 9K mile Fiorano Red Spider I "lost out on" last week looked CLEAN in the pictures, but there was alot more wear noticable in person. I was very surprised.

From a resale standpoint--YES it is a ton of miles. Call any Ferrari dealer and tell them you have a 97 355 for sale with 50K miles on it--Almost guarantee you no dealer will want it...No matter how clean it is....

I think last major was done last month but still...I'm going to watch this one because I'm curious what a well maintained 50k mile 355 Spider is ultimately worth.

I don't think this car is worth more than $55 K, proper maintenance or not a car with that many miles will have very few buyers, since a similiar car with half the miles could be had for $70-75K.

But - it is inspiring to see a 50K-mile 355 in that kind of gorgeous condition. I know pics can lie, but holy crap it looks like a 20K-mile car. I think my car's bolsters have more wear than this one does.

As far as Bolster's go, there are people who can fix any wear point on the interiors of cars.

    It's pretty cheap as well.
