Technics SL1200...thats a direct drive table not belt driven if I am not mistaken. Audiophiles will say they can hear the vibrations and the contact of the gears. I think they are so full of sh*t.
Damn, there was actually a (punk) band of that name from Indiana back in the early 80s. Their song Can't Stand The Midwest is one of my all time favorites...
Are u serious? A punk band??? Damn that gives me a bad angle. Obviously they don't get much air time on 90.5FM.
Definitely not on any of the local stations (which are 99% crappy anyway). The next time you think of a corny band name, don't be surprised to find out that there was actually such a band...
"Kwang Sia started out as one of the pioneer record chain stores in Singapore in the nineteen sixties. The founder of the company, Mr. Ang Keng Hui was also a producer of several local Mandarin and English hit albums under the Swan label. The company was one of the first record stores in Singapore to track the American Top 40 charts and to bring in the US albums as soon as they were released in the States." Were they not located at Cortina (if wrong what was the name of the building) in front of the supreme court.
The building was named Colombo Court and Cortina was the name of the departmental store in the building. I also used to hang out at The Attic when they were at Lucky Plaza but always felt their stuff was overpriced. Damn, those were the days...
Yes yes yes! kwang Sia now handles Hugo Boss. Mr Ang is good family friend. I'll ask him if he got old Tracy Huang and Teresa Carpio albums for you.
Now if the Murcielago transforms, will it be an autobot or decepticon Thanks to u KDK, we just finished it in Digital @ KLCC no less than 5th row from screen Now am I the only one that's left out of all these band things? Lung, that's Colombo Court & there was a now extinct HaiLam St which cuts across it that sold some delicious Beef Kwayteow. Well that's where Funan now stands & that Kwayteow shop is now behind LiangSeah st. Shall I paint my Murcie like an F-22 with all those decals?
I think so... They're still going strong at the Centrepoint after 30 years. Owner Bobby was in the news 1-2 years ago for all the wrong reasons - he and his mom were involved in a spat with his neighbours...
I always thought that the best beef noodle play (maybe different from beef kwayteow) was also near by... at the Odeon along North Bridge Rd or next to Brash Basah Complex.
Actually... the record shop at Lucky Plaza which I use to frequent was call "Sing". Owner was a real nice guy but cannot remember his name. Yellow Signage on the 1st floor on the back side.
I think I did patronise them before as well. Another one that I can remember was Supreme at the old Plaza Singapura (during their Yaohan days).
I was going to mention Supreme too... run by that chubby lady. I use to be there every Sat coz I was taking drum lessons at Yamaha on the 6th floor. I remember 1 particular album I bought from her was "Cheap Trick Live at the Budokan"
