Yes you are right Lung. It's a direct-drive. I think the vibration problems are a thing of the past, nowadays they pack so much shock-absorbing material in there. Those audiophiles probably have golden ears or have been swayed by the endless propaganda in hi-fi magazines and stuff Anyway the reason i recommended Technics was the durability and value for money, they are known to last well over 10-15 years of heavy use. You can also switch between 33 and 45rpm at a press of a button which is useful if you have a solid collection of 45rpm singles.
