this guy is the biggest loser in motorsports. ferrai beat mclaren fair and square and were quicker even with more fuel onboard.

everytime this jerk off loses he never mans up and says he was out played and lost becuz the other team did better. always has something stupid to say.

 

What did he say that anyone at Ferrari didn't say in the last fw years when they lost?

I agree with you on this one. What's Ron suppose to say . . . "well, err we sucked today because we had a gearbox problem and Lewis didn't get the world's best start". Competitive events all have an element of mind games associated with them from both sides of the fence.

He should have said congrats to Ferrari for doing a better job than us and we'll try to improve ourselves and fight back the next race. It's the choice of words. And as far as I can remember Ferrari and especially Jean Todt have always been fair in their post race press conferences and acknowledging that when they lost they needed to improve instead of downplaying the opponent's achievements.

Actually Ron is right: McLaren did flatter Ferrari. Yes they won fair and square, but it might have been a bit of a different race if McLaren hadn't had their trouble with Alonso's car. Today's races are often decided in the first turn and Hamilton had nobody to help him against the two Ferraris. You can only do so much.

Also the unusual high grip of NEVERs helped the Scuderia. So I'm not holding my breath for the next race. The tables can easily turn again.

 

In other words: that's racing F1 style. I stick to my point that Dennis should word it differently. When it's about fractions of seconds that decide the outcome of a race it's impossible to flatter your opponents. They just did a better job, period.

 

agreed up to a point Andreas, but RD is , and always has been, a jerk of a loser, the proverbial whinging Pom.

He never has anything good to say about anyone and it is getting a little thin after all this time.

Ferrari won because they are faster, with full tanks, and no amount of help from Alonso was going to make any difference to the result ... well maybe FA may have taken a couple of them out as he seems to be getting that desperation some racers get when they think they are losing top spot

Kimi seems to have got some confidence back but he needs to follow up NOW to prove his worth to the team and Flip neeeds to hold his nerve as the weight shifts behind KR if he does start to show his talent

I would love nothing better than to see RD spit chips next weekend after all this guff

 

That's the point I'm not so sure: Throw two McLarens into the mix and you can effectively block one Ferrari. Kimi's most likely. So Massa would have probably won (which actually would have been less good for McLaren compared to a Kimi win).

Fully agreed that Ron is a jerk, but IMHO not for the statements below.

 

I may not like Ron, but he is a heck of a team leader. RD and Project 4 were asked to join McLaren for a reason, and he has brought McLaren back to top form on more than one occuation and with a relatively short time, as oppose to the time it took Ferrari and Williams (Which is still work in progress, as we speak). Anyway, as a team leader, part of his job is to keep the team's spirit up. He is a competitor and is saying exactly what he needs to say, much similar to how the Michael Schumacher is with his team.

 

I know what you are saying but if you look at the great start Kimi did then I don't think LH and FA together would have stopped KR from getting to where he did AND winning

Say for example FA qualified 4th, he would be behind LH and KR behind FM, both Ferraris are on the racing line and get a better start maybe due to the grip on that side of the track otherwise why get pole if 2nd and 4th are better starting positions.

Then the flag drops, the grippy side of the track launches you ahead of LH as it did for KR and there would be little FA could do to squeeze KR as he is already out of reach of 4th place and only has LH to contend with for the corner.

I am worried about FA now as he will be getting desperate in the next few races as he slips out of contention and LH will just play the percentage points now as all he has to do is finish in the points and amass a total that even with Ferrari winning most of the remaining races will be insurmountable.

Has anyone done the figures to see how many races LH needs to finish in the points to become WDC ?

I started playing with figures today at work but ended up sidetracked and that project didn't reach completion. I started to figure if Lewis took only thirds for the remaining 9 races what would Kimi have to do to surpass him for DC and Kimi has to finish in 9 races with firsts or seconds (my notes are in the trash at work).

If you assume that Lewis takes 3rd in the remaining 9 races he will have 118 points at the end of the season.

Kimi would need 8 - 1st = 80 + 42 = 122 points end of season
(chances of that are very slim)

Kimi with 9 - 2nds = 72 + 42 = 114 points end of season - too bad not enough!

Kimi with 2- 1st and 7 - 2nds = 76 + 42 = 118 and it a tie - needs one more or then the rules definitely come into play.Holder of greatest # of 1st places is winner; if both have same # of 1st places then the greatest # of 2nd places is winner, etc . . .

Kimi with 3 - 1st and 6 - 2nds = 78 + 42 = 120 - wins DC

There's countless other combos but right now I don't have time to do that figuring. Perhaps later this evening.

Statistically Lewis can't finish on the podium for the rest of his career. The car is bound to have at least one DNF.

Unlike others on this board, I kind of like Ron Dennis, he seems like a very professional guy that has created something (McLaren Int'l) starting with a very humble origin. I don't agree with a lot of his Ronspeak, but the guy seems very intelligent.

 

I'm with you on this one! I especially like the way he's brought up Lewis . . stressing education before racing . . .on a side note, I am very impressed with his wife, Lisa. She appears to be along the lines of Ron - very professional, conservative appearance - a real person.

I am also worried about the poor guy. He is fast and a deserving 2 times WDC that has the whole of Britain and McLaren (basically) against him.

You can see now that he is over driving trying to find something that is simply not there, that the car cannot give. LH is very fast and so is Alonso and they have matched each other lap time wise all year long, but racing drivers live off their ego ...

With all the brain washing the LH has had and all the simulation, etc. its a tough ask for Alonso to bag pole AND also beat the occassionally fast Ferraris.

It really sh!ts me this situation because like it or not, Alonso is the best F1 driver currently on the grid, from setup, development of car to usually consistent (with a 1 race per year Spanish emotions exception ) race winner. I'm glad that F1 is so much safer nowadays because he is starting to drive like a person that is going to hurt himself. Fnck the gearbox failure!, but to be fair to McLaren that might have been caused by one of the many gravel trap runs he did ...

Motor racing is a cruel sport and he is really getting shafted. One can see why MS was such a pansy with his team mates that is for sure, but I do hope that Alonso has enough faith in himself to return to the basics and just bang in those lap times and see what happens. He needs to remember that LH is a robot that has been over trained for many years and that LH is also very lucky that McLaren smacked out a good car this year. I'm pretty sure Alonso would develop a not-so-good car better than LH simply because he has been there and done that before.

Ron Dennis is a perpetual sore loser, always has been and always will be. He's never known how to win like a man, and never known how to lose like one.

Moreover I think he might actually be Lucifer himself. I look forward to the day in the next 10 years when Mercedes finally buys that bald bastard into retirement.

 

+1. I fear the Mclarens will be back with a vengeance at the high speed silverstone ring. Ferrari can't seem to do well on the high speed tracks.

Wrong Alonso is nt the enemy at Mclaren and the whole off Great britain .He probably didnt expect to have such a good team mate when he joined up. I want him in a ferrari he is all round very good. You keep calling hamilton a robot he is a new breed of racer and Hamilton's pass on Kubica was also very good; he was sharp as he exited the pits and although Kubica got ahead of him initially Lewis made a decisive move down the inside which Kubica could not fight off. It was clinical and very aggressive.

Also impressive were Hamilton's out laps from the pit stops, which were significantly faster than either of the Ferrari drivers. The so called robotic racing style keeps checking the boxes .Mclaren had also kept engine revs down in the race .
He is on the podium again and you still cant give him credit there again he s not an Aussie so that explains it

 

silverstone is a medium-high downforce track. ferrari does well on those type of tracks. if im not mistaken the f2007 is built for fast tracks
