I am thinking of buying this 360. Of course I need service records and a ppi, but if anyone has any info about this one it would be greatly appreciated. Also opinions regarding price, what to watch for, etc.

Also opinions (rants) about F1 vs. manual. I first drove a F1 yesterday... This one. I thought I would never buy one, but I'm thinking yes.

    Hey Wayne,

Good luck on your purchase... as an owner of a year 2000 360 myself, here are a few things you need to keep in mind before you buy this (or any) used Ferrari:

    - Yes, get a PPI. You can't skip this step. Of course you need to bring the car to someone other than the seller. One great place to bring the car would be a Ferrari dealer... see next item

    - Campaigns: Older 360's had a number of Campaigns (Ferrari-speak for recalls). It'll be important to understand if there are any oustanding Campaigns on your car. There is one uber-important campaign that needs to be taken care of which affects 1999/2000 and very early 2001 360's which is the Cam Variator Campaign. The folks at Ferrari can look your car up on "Ferrari-net" and tell you in 10 minutes which of these Campaigns have been taken care of and which, if any, are outstanding.

If the Cam Variator work has not been done, you'll need to factor this work into the price of the car. While the actual work to replace the Variators will be free (at a Ferrari dealer)... getting to the Variators will not be free and is typically done with a major belt service (which your car may needs as it's 7+ years old).

    - Clutch: The F1 tranny, in my opinion, is the best tranny for the car. One big downside is it's bruttal on the car's clutch. It'll be important to see how much clutch is left. On our cars, this clutch work is expensive and if your car has less than 25% of the clutch left, you should factor this into the price of the car too.

    - Body shop: Take the car to a body shop to have them check the car. It's not uncommon for these cars to have bumpers and other body parts resprayed from use, but you'll want to know if any actual body work has been done as this is a big issue in resale price.

    - Price: $134 is near the top of what a clean year 2000 car should cost with nearly 20K miles. If all campaigns are done, no body work and services are all up to date (documented, up to date), you'll still want to get this price down a bit.

    - Logic: Last, but not least, don't rush the purchase. Use the logical side of your brain and if something isn't right... pass and keep looking. There are a lot of 360's in California and likely many in this price range.

If you want to discuss more, please feel free to PM me.

If you do go for this, definitely post some pix.

    Good luck,

    Frank

That 360 is beautiful. Black on tan is always a great combo.

Also, you need to see if the pulleys, tensioners and bearings were replaced with the last belt service. These parts are scheduled for replacement every six years.
Also, check the frame around the engine mounting, they had a habit of cracking in this area. There is a thread on this subject.

I love the black on the 360!! I believe the price is a little to high for 20k miles on a '00. There are plenty to choose from, but if it checks out and they come down on the price go for it!!!

    Good luck!

    Robert

Thanks to all for the help and info. I am in Pasadena and am thinking of having Eugenio do the PPI on whatever car I decide on. After all the input I am liking the F1.

    fwiw:

I was going to go look at that car a month or two ago....I have since changed my mind on a black car...

A little negotiating power to you....they have had this car a few months, iirc.

Oh, and someone mentioned Eugenio! He is the MAN...PERIOD.

I am not 100% certain he does PPI's, but when you buy a car, have nobody else service it!

    my two cents
