Carol put this on another thread in this forum. Thanks. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157329&page=10 Not wanting to hijack the F1 Stepneygate scandal. Is a "5% competition adjustment" a 5% weight penalty? How do they come up with such a number? Why not 4% or 6%? Is this like the old days in IMSA where the 962 was constantly being penalized because they were so dominant?
Hi Phil - Here's the IMSA link to the changes for P2 as of this weekend at Lime Rock Park. I had read somewhere about the percentage - I assumed 5% but you know what happens when you do that! Applicable to P2's except for the Lola/B07-46 Mazda. It's with the air restrictors. Yes, to my knowledge this has been added due to the "performance" of the RS Spyder (which probably really should be for all purposes a P1 car). http://www.imsaracing.net/2007/alms/bulletins/bulletin%2007-15.pdf There's quite an array of bulletins on the IMSA site. Race is Saturday - 3 pm EDT - on live timing as well on Radio Le Mans - www.globecast157.org (I think that's right) - www.imsaracing.net Carol
Hey Carol. The P car is so heavy that one guy should pitch in and push. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not quite. IMSA wanted the factory-backed LMP2 field to compete with the Audi R10s this year. The ACO, the Le Mans sanctioning body, intends for P2 to be for privateers and for P1 to be for the overall victory. news from January 31, 2007: The ACO 5 % power reduction doesn't apply to P2 cars for 2007 in ALMS. "The Lola EX257, which shall be eligible to compete in the American Le Mans Series in 2007, may start at its Laguna Seca 2006 configuration. The Lola B06/10; the Zytek 06S; the Creation CA06/H; shall start at their Laguna Seca 2006 configuration, except that their minimum weight shall be 890kg (up 30 kilos). All other cars in "LM"P1 shall conform to the ACO specifications, 2007. The starting point for all "LM"P2 cars shall be their Laguna Seca 2006 configuration. Bulletin 06- 05 Para 2a shall remain in effect. All other new "LM"P2 cars shall use the 2006 restrictor table." - http://www.imsaracing.net/2007/alms/Bulletins/Bulletin%2007-06.pdf IMSA LMP2 rules now closer to ACO rules All LMP2 cars in the ALMS will now race with the 5 % engine restrictor (5 % change from 2006) that the ACO originally put in place for 2007 except LMP2 cars with the Mazda MZR-R engine and the AER P07 engine. - http://www.imsaracing.net/2007/alms/bulletins/bulletin%2007-15.pdf There are only two other LMP1 cars besides the R10 in ALMS for most of the season, Autocon Motorsports' Creation CA06/H with a 5.0 liter Judd V-10 and Intersport Racing's Creation CA06/H with a 5.0 liter Judd V-10. Intersport has Kumho tires while Autocon has Dunlops (very close to Michelins) http://www.creationsport.co.uk/ http://www.intersportracing.com/ http://www.autoconmotorsports.com/ http://***************.com/frame.php?file=search.php&keys=creation&method=0 Only privateer LMP2 car in ALMS this year: http://www.vandersteurracing.com/ p.s. the P1 rules give turbodiesels 37.5 % more engine displacement than turbo'd gasoline engines.
Privateers Fredy Lienhard and Didier Theys will start a Marerati at Road America in GT1. Prodrive was to announce in early July if the Astons would return before Petite LeMans.
I suspect there may be an Aston at Petite but not the aforementioned. Unfortunately, I don't feel at liberty to say any more. Carol
