Since my car is RScuderia, I am thinking of painting the rear diffuser area the same color of the body, but leaving the fins black. Has any owner done this ? and if you have pics, can you post them here ? I have no idea what it will look like. I almost painted by 430 Spider but did not. I have attached a picture of a 430 that was painted. Since the mass of the 599 rear is large and tall, painting the back may make it look like a truck. On darker colors the black rear can melt into the design, but since mine is a brighter rosso, it just does not look appealing to me. Any advise is very much appreciated. Personally, I reckon that is too much colour and you need the black there to break it all up. But thats just my opinion.
heres a couple of quick Photoshops... i think i like the red with the black fins better... GT Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I personally like the contrast of the black diffuser. The only way I would change it would be to get a carbon fiber rear diffuser. Now that would look hot!!!
WOW! what a perfect PShop. I will do the blackfin and post it here once it is done. Thank you so much for making this visualization possible. You are a master Photoshoper. Amazing details such as the angle of the reflection and shadow. Thank you so much again and again. Now I can go to sleep.
my pleasure.. glad to help you are more than welcome. pleasant dreams.. wait... you already GOT the Ferrari... what is there left to dream of? oh, right... girls. GT
There are cars that the factory has painted like this. FONJ recently delivered a red 599 with a painted diffuser. IMO it looks better black.
Everyone can do whatever they want to their car but IMVHO "OUCH". That hurts. Gloss paint on a diffuser is a no go. It makes the car look slow. It looks like you went to K-Mart and bought a diffuser kit and stuck it on with 2-sided tape. Was K-Mart out of stock on the matching side panels with built in neon? Maybe the Kia panels would fit with a bit of gentle persuasion???
I went to the 60th celebration at Maranello. What an eye opener. The factory will do whatever you want if you pay the $$. I guess they do not feel the need to exercise too much judgement as tastes vary so much all over the world
done painted This is my 5th Ferrari and all have been red since the 355, except my CS which was black, so I have seen a lot of Ferrari's at meets etc the past 15 years. In Japan I see about 1 out of 50 430 painted, so painting is rare and is a matter of owner taste. I choose the red because it is THE Ferrari color and a color Enzo choose for ALL racing cars he built. I never liked the 430 diffuser being a separate metal color but did not paint it but always wish I had. I love my painted 599. No more KIA add on bumper like diffuser. The black fin looks evil and Jawslike. The picture does not do it justice, you just have to see the real one to get an impression for how appropriate it looks. I have a feeling the rear is not painted because the diffuser sucks in a lot of pebbles on the tracks and road and Ferrari may be liable for warranty repair by the majority of owners. If anyone is an insider and can educate me as to why the separate color that would be great. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
IMHO, it looks very ugly. Having contrast in a car is a good thing. I saw a F430 with painted diffuser - big NO-GO.
Thanks for your honest opinion. I have friends that say the same thing. I just love being, looking and thinking different. I could not be happier with the painted diffuser. I would do it 1000 times over. All things aside, what a car. Just love the 599.
Congrats on following thru with your wishes. Out of the 2 choices (all red or red with black fins) i like the one you went with best. Good stuff! As for Ferrari's choice for making it black, i doubt its something as complex as warranty reasons... just simple plain ol' rock chips. As you say, it kicks up alot of pebbles, so one might be buying an above-average amount of touchup paint for your such a diffuser. Although i doubt owners take these cars on many gravel roads, but still... anyways.. congrats again, and glad to be of help on the project... GT
IMHO ??? ... I think you can leave the "IMHO" out of your post ... I just don't see you as ever being humble G
