First, are you sure this genius is actually smart enough to wipe until he sees clean paper? He has thus far "managed" his press about as well as the Nixon white house crew.

Second, (on a contrarian notion about "letting your drivers race") - if you were a team manager, and had an assured finish of first and second, how would you feel if your second place guy wiped out both your cars in a vainglorious attempt to pass your number one on the last corner? More importantly, how would your sponsorship feel about it?

Third, (just an aside comment) - the only guy who is going to come out of this unscathed is of course Lewis. Nobody, but nobody, is going to dare blame him for any of this debacle. And yet the press is moaning and flaggelating themselves over "what might happen to his points"...???

nobody here is innocent. Today it was Ferrari some other year before it was McLaren or Williams.
Please, this happens every day. Ferrari has spies just as all the other teams have spies in their competitors.

For all the other stuff, Enzo himself was the master of doing something illegal and then stand there and cry that it is someone elses fault or that he was framed and that the Media is after him.

Relax guys, its F1. They all do it, they all know it and they all will continue to do it. Cheating is the biggest part of racing! He who cheats best, wins!

His statement that only one MCL employee saw the documents is bogus. It is now reported that an MCL employee who was making copies turned them in after noticing the SF logo on the documents. How many copies? Who has them?

True, but in retrospect, was it not the great Roger Penske who practically made a career out of "the unfair advantage"? I seem to recall an acid-dipped TransAm Camaro, amoung other infractions. And everybody thought he was an all-american legend. Maybe MCL just needs a little more chutzpah here?

I will have to say, that for the moment at least, SF "up", MCL "down". Who could have predicted that two weeks ago?

It is hilarious to see these perps get themselves in more trouble for their coverup attempts than for the deed itself.

 

Have you thought *why* he was using an independent copy shop? - Mac don't have a state of the art copier in the facility? Or maybe, just maybe, he didn't want Mac to know what he was up to?

The more I learn on this the more I believe it was a Coughlan/Stepney "plot" to find themsleves (and their egos!) some high paying gigs.

I *never* thought I'd come to RD's defense, but for the good of the sport hope that RD's "tearful" press conference was the truth.....

Do you have some information that I'm not aware about that hasn't been printed yet? Because at the moment from what I've read his statement is true.

I think you need to read the thread about Honda admitting that Stepney and Coughlan had approached them for employment.

Do you really think McLaren's performance increase over Ferrari was due to this information? If that was the case then why were all the aero bits (like McLaren's new front wing) nothing like Ferrari's? As has been stated in other threads the chassis are no where near alike and it's very doubtful any mechanical information from Ferrari would have pertained directly to the McLaren.

 

Agreed. BUT, a combination of Ferrari and Mac data, plus the knowledge these guys have would make them very valuable to another teams '08 designs.

At least until they got caught......

It wasn't a McLaren employee, it was an employee of a copy center (kinkos?lol) accourding to the speed announce team during the practice braodcast if i heard right.

 

You heard right. However, I *suspect* the Kinkos reference was more of their "humour" at the fact that anyone could be so stupid with such info rather than it being an actual Kinkos.

I've asked before, why would "they" copy it in public rather than use Macs no doubt awesome copy center if Mac were involved?

However, if anyone reading this happens to live around the Woking area it'd be interesting to see if any of the copy centers are currently inundated with reporters....... Someone's got to be going after this story IMHO.

Nothing Dennis said in this statement is untrue. Folks here just need something to complain about, if not Alonso then Dennis.

I think Ron Dennis is probably the best Manager in all of F1, Class Act has nothing to do with it. The guy has consistently put out Winners since the early 80's and from someone who came from Humble Beginnings the guy has proved what he can do. I don't think the guy had anything to do with this whole sordid affair, and he will get through it fine.

On these boards, Dennis got lambasted for ordering his drivers not to drink. He was soundly criticized for trying to control what his employees do in their own time. Here we have a rogue employee engaged in activities in his own home, not in the McLaren office, and yet Dennis is still somehow responsible?!?

Judging from the title of this thread, people already have their minds made up, no matter what the facts may be...
