What is the worst that can happen to a 360 ,left out in the elements, exposed to rain, wind ,frost and snow, all winter - garage too small -cover tends to rub on paint ,when windy

    You will need a detailer?

Seriously though, is there anyway you could put up a carport for it? Might be cheaper than building a whole garage.

If the car is parked for long periods outside without being driven, mold and mildue are your first biggest problems followed by fading of interior parts from sun exposure, and bad weather will cause rapid corrosion on steel and aluminum parts.

It will age as all cars do. Big deal. It's a car. Yes, it's a Ferrari, but you're 60 - will you be driving it in 25 years? Maybe, maybe not. Unless you have the ability to build a garage or access to offsite rental parking that is reasonably close - close enough that it won't deter you from driving as much as you do, I say enjoy your car, and just get it detailed every few months.

Go with the car cover, that will be better than being exposed to the elements. And just don't let it sit, drive her around.

Why are some people so judgemental of Ferrari owners? If a person can afford to buy a Ferrari and only drive it once a year, SO WHAT, that is their business.

Protect it from the elements in a garage with a car cover. It's not worth it to have a tree rat (squirrel) live in the engine bay or chew on something & ending up causing major pocket book damage. When I was in high school, one of my neighbors had a Jaguar new XJ12 & left it out in front of his garage for several months without driving it. He never used a car cover for it so with the brutal north Texas summer heat ruined the paint & interior. Birdcrap, dust, branches, leaves, etc. laid on that Jag for months until was towed away.

Agreed. Or, if you have room, some sort of portable car shelter would be far preferable to having the car sit outside.

I think you'll find the car deteriorating pretty quickly and developing more electrical/mechanical issues than it would if properly stored.

Or buy a Ferrari that fits in the small garage. The 308, 328, 348 and 355 are all much shorter, IIRC.

If you read Alan's other posts, you'll see that he drives his car as often as possible, regardless of the weather, which is the perfect attitude to have in the Scottish highlands.

I'm sure you could find friends or neighbours who wouldnt mind leaving your beautiful Ferrari in their garage, in fact they might even sacrifice leaving their own cars outside just to leave yours in their garage :)

I would not put a cover on the car. I have a car that the previous owner always kept a car cover on, and the paint is thrashed from the cover rubbing it in the wind. I would try really hard to find garage space for the car.

He could save his money and buy a bloody model, toy Ferrari for 10 bucks. Seriously its like getting a gym membership with a spa, sauna, all the weights you could ever need and only go there once every 3 months... whats the point? So he could say I go to the gym? Please...

Ha Ha Ha! The problem with this is that when they are not closed they are open. An open one will be laying on your car when you want to remove it. How did you get it in? A rigid frame will suport the things while you enter and leave.

Drive and enjoy. Spend a bit more on wax and a sunshade for the dash.

Typical NON-OWNER responce. Maybe you should go to the Yugo site and discuss your issues with them.
Scottland should drive it when he wants to and park it where he wants to. Enjoy the ride.

seller of 2001 360 in Northern California has been storing car (silver) in carport under car cover for 3 years, rather than in garage. Cause for concern? could this affect car's value? we're not talking snow or ice at least

They have those portable garages, a tarp and poles tent kind of thing, build a lean-too, build a small shed, throw something out of the garage. But dont put any kind of cover on it outside. The wind could make the cover wear through the paint in an afternoon if it was whiping hard enough. And put sun shades in the windows.

Dude, take a pill! alan mercer never stated how often he drives his car. His inquiry was only into what the winter elements may do to the car when left outside. Regardless, why would anyone want to drive a Ferrari or any exotic in a rain or snow storm? What's the point? Most F-owners do have a 2nd car. Maybe you'll have a better understanding when your able to own one.
