Has anyone seen and/or driven a Saker sports car? I am looking for reviews or tests on the car. I am interested in buying one and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

I saw one at the Porsche club event at Hallatt recently. Maybe that was Larry's, but it was on the track briefly and suffered from a sticky throttle.

I think there are one or two Sakers here in Holland. They have Subaru engines. What engine does yours use?

It has a 2.5 L Subaru, which we have yet to get all the issues sorted. The normal new car this didn't work how bout this kind of stuff. Also my first Subaru engine.
The car has DOT glass and provisions for turn signals. So the manufacturer says it can be licensed legally in all states but CT. and CA. Apparently those two states have very strict minimum standards for non production cars. That and the ride height is way too low for the street. It would take a lot of readjustment each time to convert from track to street.
My only intention is racing SCCA or COMMA in the A sports racer category.
That was me in Hallett Oklahoma. That was our first time on track and did have a stuck throttle. So we loaded it on the truck and started drinking.

What happens when you need replacement parts?

I remember saker was looking for engineers last year, but they had issues getting the program together for full blown US racing.

Did you look into a Diasio?

So what's the deal on the car? Can they actually be bought? Or is it yet another "will-o-the-wisp" type of kit car that can never really be had? So how much does it cost without engine?

Replacement Parts are for the most part aftermarket equipment readily available or special order (depending on which part you need) Moton, Subaru, Motec, Sparco etc. Body panels would be the problem. If you know fiberglass or Carbon that shouldn't be a problem either.
Cost is a question for the manufacturer.
I tested the Diasio at Putnam park. I was not very impressed with it. It drove like a badass go kart not an actual road car. And I think it is a matter of personal preference for me. Diasio certainly has their game together as far as delivery, spares and current upgrades. Chris Diasio was very knowledgable and very hands on about his cars. Saker is not as developed.
    4 cylinder 2.5 L Subaru 400 +HP.
I'm not sure of the current availability on the car.

It doesn't. Ultima ride quality is a *little* better aside from weighing 500lbs more and having 320hp more than the Saker. Saker made me feel like I was in a shopping cart with a motor. They are cheap too at 45k for a rolling chasis. ;) www.sakereurope.com

It falls in to my 'sick a55 track weapon' category now consisting of Saker, Ultima, Radical.

Hi everyone. First time posting on Ferarri Chat. I was searching for Saker related items and came across this thread.

I live in New Zealand where Bruce Turnbull designed and built the Saker SV1, SVS & Sprint. His workshop is about 1 hour from where I live and he is currently building a Saker SVS for me. To clear up a few things... I believe there is an agent for Saker Cars in the U.S but that has just recently changed ownership. Parts are available for the Saker. There are moulds in the U.S although there is no reason why it couldn't be sent from NZ if anyone had any difficulty obtaining anything.

They are certainly not built to the level of the Ultima but thne neither is the build cost. Comparing apples to apples I sure the same aresult could be achieved by Bruce given the same budget used on an Ultima. In saying that tey certainly are shabby or rough just not covered in leather etc. Admitedly they are more designed for the track but have the benefit of being road legal as well. They are built from the factory to run a Subaru motor however it is no problem running a differant power plant as there are a few other engines in Sakers around the world.

Performance is pretty outstanding with the Saker running around 10 seconds faster with a standard WRX engine at our local track than my 911 Turbo. Their weight varies on configeration but usually are in the 800-900kg mark. I'm running a Version 10 2.5 STi engine in mine with a Subi 6 speed. I've been cvery impressed by the whole set up, options, design etc. Bruce is a true gentleman and a very clever guy.

The Saker brand extends throughout the world. He has agents/representatives in Australia, U.K, Holland and the U.S. If you have any further questions then let me know and I will do my best to answer them. You never know maybe bruce himself will chime in on this thread. Here a some useful links and pics :)
