Realize this is in brushed 11 gauge (3/32") stainless,,,,,,,but has all the color and icon screening in place, The color was applied by a company that screens electronics equipment panels and so therefore is very durabale (epoxy paint) and washable with a damp cloth. Also placement of controls can be rearranged and/or other control "ports" can be added. This is not the final piece before production, I am having the icons for the vents made bolder and there are some other minor details that need to be addressed...................any interest? Kerry

No..........This is not an applique! This is a very substantial piece........It completely replaces the flimsy plastic piece that locates the controls. Available in polished stainless, brushed stainless or aluminum, engine machined stainless or aluminum, powdercoated aluminum or stainless (any color), wrinkle coated aluminum or stainless, or carbon fiber overlay on stainless (laminated)........and as I mentioned earlier, you can have the layout of the switches, buttons, knobs, or cigarette lighter in any position, as well as add control "ports" you desire and/or eliminate items such as cigarette lighter etc. You let me know what and where and it bolts right in. All the mounting brackets are made of stainless or aluminum, depending on the material you choose to have the console plate to be constructed of. I will post pix of the brckets if needed...... I am involved in the "music business"..............But I am a motorhead at heart and when I see something in a vehicle I own and I want to improve upon it, I just......do it! I make adapters for extreme offroad vehicles to mate engines to transmissions and multiple transfer cases, parts for RC cars to accomplish better performance and now console plates, skid plates, heat shields, test tubes(to alleviate catalytics), rubber components for the flat 12 engine (and the 328), as well as the suspension, etc. for Ferrari TR's............I needed it, so I made it.........Kerry

I wonder if anyone here on Fchat can give me some insight into legal issues as far as displaying the Ferrari logo on a part(s) that I make for various Ferrari applications. For example this............

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157678

Shall I NOT display the Ferrari name on this piece (which is easy to do).........I want to make sure that I am not treading on trademark and registered name/logo, laws/rules.

    Thanks, Kerry

They're pretty protective of their trademarks but there are others that seem to get away with using them on mats and other products.

I don't think there are any issues with end users but you might get a "cease and desist" letter at some point.

You can make one for your own use with the logo, but you cannot sell them with the Ferrari script, horse, or any other copyrighted trademark image unless they are produced under license from the original holder (SpA, I assume).

Not only is it illegal, and Ferrari will push it, but this looks a lot like a commercial post by non-sponsor.

How much to be a "sponsor" so I can sell 5 pieces, to cover my investment in dollars and time involved to R&D.... in order to offer an "alternative" to the Fcar/TR enthusiast of these............... Valence?

If questioning my motive(s), then please be informative and helpful, as to how I can be "legit" and able to charge even more to the Fcar public.......Please....Thanks, Kerry

Here are pix of MY updated console that is NOT for sale..............Next i need to make the shift gate, shifter knob, emergency brake handle, from the same material (stainless, in this case) to get the parts to really flow. By the way the mounting brackets ( which are hidden underneath) are a thing of beauty..........really trick, stainless as well, very substantial material, all one piece construction. and really make MY console a very formidable and precise fitting item...........Kerry

Valence, don't get your panties up in a bunch, I don't think he's going to take over the Ferrari driving market any time soon. He doesn't seem to be looking to draw huge crowds, and for that reason I don't see this as a very "commercial" post, more towards a log of his product development. I'm sure if the Administrators see a giant flaw in his actions they will be dealt with appropriately.

    P.S. Looks great, Kerry.

Thanks..........I must agree, I realize there were only 7000+ TR's produced, and with the prices tanking and the over abundance of these Miami Vice wanna be cars everywhere, not many owners will be interested in replacing the flimsy plastic OEM panel with such a piece. I can assure the powers that be that this will not be an item that is desired by the TR owner.....the car is too common, priced these days as a bargain (understandable... when so high in maintanence costs, very undependable, prone to tranmission breakage if "gingerly" driven, heavy steering and admired 20 years later by motorheads worldwide, with a still current body style......sorry I can't make up my manic brain to really hate, I mean love, not get involved with, kinda like it, I never see them anywhere, daily driver, great manners in and about town...............I'll stop now...............I'm confused........I should stop taking an interest in developing possible new/upgraded parts for MY TR.....Oh, there I go again, thinking of only myself, it all "about ME"..........LOL.....Kerry

PS One thing that I really dig about this Stainless piece is that your really not aware of how "loose" (as far as fitment of the controls, and that it does "flex" when let's say, you raise or lower a window, change the routing of the HVAC), the plastic OEM panel is until I got this 11 guage panel in place. The console seems "legitament" now. It's reminesent of when I found that the $137,000 retail (in 1987) car I owned had the carpet glued directly to the sheet metal under the seats.............ridiculous, for such a "high-end" exotic in it's era...............I re-did that as well, because I wanted MY TR to be a "better" car...........

Kerry super job. It looks great and who cares about the logo concern. I hve been involved in eng/design fo the semiconductor business for better then 45 years and have had many silkscreened nameplates made on plastics and sheetmetal. This is a good example of the quality of this work and with todays computer and CNC machines the set up and run time is minimal. Continue on your upgrade path and enjoy. Thanks for sharing the info.

I think it would look a lot better without the logo.

Nice piece. Good luck with it.
