Idle problem solved

    My haunting idle problem was solved yesterday, turned out to be both O2 sensors. After reading that lubricants like WD40 can kill 02 sensors (silicone), I went DOOOH!, gues what i used to get them loose.... Leasson learned.

    Did the test, and klet the car idle with out the sensors pluged in, and there weas no problem. I went out and got 2 universal BOSCH o2 sensors (same as the original part, but with out the plugs), removed the plugs from the old sensors, connectet them to the new sensors, installed them, and WOLLA, and nice steady 950 rpm idle, hot and cold.

    This was also my first ride with the test pipes in. Damn is sounds gooood. The drone i had with capristo and stock cats is gone, and instead it has this animal like scream.

    idle - raw burbling

    idle - 4000 - raw scream

    4000 - 7800 -F1

    Thanks for all the help on this guys, and remember WD40 and 02 sensors dont get along...

    Euro 348's aren't typically wired to display the ecu error codes on the dash.

    Nope no warning lights, not even with both sensors disconnectet....


    Wonder how you can tell if I did a OK wireing job?? I mean if theres is no lights when they are disconnectet, how can I tell if the wires are ok, and there is signal??


    anyway, car runs smooth...maybe I should just enjoy that instead....

    You could have fixed the old o2 sensors with a propane torch

    Do tell! I occassionally have a hunting throttle when maintaining the same speed for more than 10-15 miles on the highway. I was thinking it might be a bad O2 sensor (based on things I have read on Fchat).

    Yup. If the 348 is warm and the throttle starts surging or lagging while you are trying to hold a steady speed, the #1 explanation is a bad O2 sensor (sometimes 2).



    ....can't help you with the propane torch, but I can say that I've used the $17 generic 4 wire O2 sensors on ebay for 348's with success.

    Guess what the bosch P/N for the O2 sensor is the same as the VOLVO 850 with the plugs and all
    I got mine from a local Mekonomen store.

    WD-40 does NOT contain silicone. Maybe your sensors were just old or contaminated by something else. I don't think the WD-40 had anything to do with the problem.

    I have looked into this. and YES, you are right. I gor the wrong info, WD40 does NOT cantain silicone. Maybe it was just the remove/reinstall that killed the old sensors. Anyway the car have been running great since the new sensors!
