MAJOR Change in My Garage

It won't be long before you want to buy back a CGT. This, from one F430 owner to another (and a CGT owner too)!

Beautiful collection I liek the idea of having both models and if you can without worry why not.

 

Given what's in the stable, great trade. Until you have owned and driven a SLR you don't realize what a pain in the a$$ it is to have to fall into the drivers seat!
I do have one question for you however, how do you compare the GT3RS to the 430? I have a 430 Spider, and just traded in my 04 GT3 track car for a 07 997TT, and TT is so docile in comparison to the old GT3. Are the new GT3's a little more forgiving with the drivers aids?

The CGT will be "the one that got away". It is still the consumate supercar, and astoundingly available for $200,000!!!!! less than a new 599!
I'm with the guy who said you'll be looking to get a CGT back in your garage real soon.

I love Ferraris. I have owned them for a couple of decades - all types from the Fifties through to their most current offerings. I drive a Ferrari virtually every day. The CGT is still the one that makes the hair on the back of my neck prickle with anticipation when I start it up and take it out.

 

Congrats on the trade. You should have the 'supercars' that you yourself enjoy the most.

 

The RS is a suberb car (I own it too), very focused and much more of a driver's car than a cruiser (F430). I think the interesting comparison will be the the RS versus the F430 Pista (or Stradale).

I cannnot imagine an accomplished driver preferring the F430 over the GT3 RS, but there are others here with both (and better drivers who may chime in). It may come down to a comfort level and preference for rear engine versus mid engine though!.

 

You should give the 05 430 to your son.

I totally agree. I was visiting Scottsdale Ferrari last weekend and Jim Summers was in the showroom talking up the 599 they had on the floor to (what I assume) was a previous customer. I had to stop him and point out that the red CGT was a true supercar and could be had for 200M less than the 599!

 

Mag, Dave Helms (Ferrari mechanic par excellance) of Scuderia Rampante in Boulder told me before I purchased my '89 Mondial-t coupe that the maintenance on my car would be about the same as the maintenance on an F-40. So if I can afford to service my t coupe I believe you should be able to maintain the F-40 without too much problem (wink, wink). Just thought you should know.

 

I also had a major change in my garage this past weekend. No new cars, but look at the difference a good floor makes!

I still think you made great decision.
How was Marshall Goldman to deal with. I have been there several times and they have always been nice to me as a looky loo. Seems to be a class act.

 

Good to know, they seem like nice people when I visit from time to time. I am not yet in the position to buy but I am getting there. They always seem to have pristine examples of whatever you could want.

 

At a time when F430's are dropping and CGT's firming up, its a peculiar time to do this trade, especially when the economics of buying a 599gtb over sticker bother you.

the CGT is a better car, and i for one wouldn't trade it for an F430. But I am not you, so congrats on your new cars.

the CGT is not for everyone....it is an enthusiast's dream and a drivers car. It is truly appreciated by those who like to drive them hard, and is an experience that never grows old.

Poseurs need not apply...its too much work (shifting gears, using the clutch, egress etc.) for the return.

 

Talking about driving the cars hard,mind me asking how many miles have YOU put on your CGT,CS and the F40 since purchasing them and how/where do you drive them hard..don't think you have ever tracked any of your cars,or have you ?
