I type pretty quickly but the idea of nearly doubling my speed (and alleviating my carpal tunnel) is appealing. I remember seeing a demo for Dragon 1 or 2 some 11 years ago but I've never really paid attention to it since. I've always thought that it would be difficult to talk in the same format that I write.

Is anyone using the new Dragon 9? Thoughts and opinions?

I've played with it on and off for the last few years.

I've never found investing the time into training it a decent replacement for my 120wpm. :(

It doesn't help that I listen to music whenever I'm on the computer + the white noise provided by my massive 120mm fans for the desktop (whooo AMD's ultra hot processors!)

Now that I've moved over to OS X I haven't had a chance to give it another shot, but my brother loves the voice recognition software provided. It's worth a shot anyways.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't think that kind of interaction will be capable unless A.I. becomes sufficiently advanced to... well... understand what I'm saying (without all the training b.s.).

That's what they're touting with this new version 9 is no training scripts.

120 wpm? That's pretty darn fast anyway. I think in college typing classes I topped out around 90-100, probably only 60-75 now.

Does the Mac recognition software do more than commands?

I spent about an hour with it last night and the Mac speech software is maybe only 30% accurate even while affecting my 'clear speech announcer voice.'

I tried Dragon about ten years ago. It sucked. I spent more time typing over type-O's ( or should they be call 'Say-O's?) and 'training' the software than anything. It was really a waste of time. Looks like the technology STILL sucks!

The above usually looked like the following:

I tired Drag on about ten beers logo. Tit sucked. I sent more timing traping over tricycles ( bore wood they be call 'cherios;?) and 'train thing' the software ban anoying. It stove really a was of time. Locks lick the technology STALL snacks!
